About the Role

Under the Director, Business Development, the incumbent will support strategic business development initiatives by assisting with the identification and coordination of key operational processes, contributing to data governance activities, and helping ensure that internal controls, monitoring practices, and account management processes support business objectives effectively.


Main responsibilities:

 

  1. Identifying growth opportunities in Axens and Lummus licensed processes

Scope

  • Review Axens and Lummus process portfolios (Including the maps provided by Lummus)
  • Reach out to contacts (including cold calls) to gather additional technical or commercial insights, from engineering firms, licensors, or end users when needed. Arrange follow‑up meetings with senior Velan personnel as required.
  • Identify processes with:
    • Severe pressure and temperature conditions
    • High cycling, fouling, or erosion risks
    • Clear SSBV value versus alternative valve technologies
  • Link findings to Velan’s experience and strategy (i.e, roadmap)


Deliverables

  • Shortlist of Axens & Lummus processes with SSBV potential
  • High-level severity, application, and competitor mapping
  • Inputs to support future licensor engagement

 

  1. Improving customer-facing technical communication for Coker and E-Bed, with a particular focus on Coker PLC & E-Bed purge solutions

Scope

  • Work closely with Velan’s experts to identify and collect information on current solutions for
    • Coker Pressure Letdown Control (PLC)
    • Ebullated Bed purge applications (Purge Type and Purge Panels)
  • Synthetize the information and provide a summary of the technical solutions that Velan offers for these products, including key technical features.
  • Benchmark Velan’s solutions against key competitors. 
    • Publicly available information
    • Internal data accumulated over time

Deliverables

  • Technical content for marketing department to create marketing material to promote Velan PLC solutions for Delayed Coker.
    • Feature → benefit → customer-value matrices usable by Sales and Aftermarket teams.

Draft application notes, simplified technical diagrams, and case-study outlines


Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Business Administration, Management, Industrial Marketing, Strategy, or a related field. 
  • Demonstrated interest in the industrial and manufacturing sectors. 
  • Technical background (e.g., technical diploma, engineering, applied sciences) or prior experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment is considered an asset. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and generate insights. 
  • Self-starter with a high degree of initiative, curiosity, and autonomy. 
  • Proven ability to summarize and communicate complex information clearly and effectively. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French (bilingual proficiency required/preferred).
