About the Role:
The Recreation Programmer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a diverse range of recreational programs and activities that promote community engagement, wellness, and social interaction. This role involves assessing community needs and interests to develop inclusive programs that cater to various age groups and abilities. The Recreation Programmer collaborates with community organizations, volunteers, and other stakeholders to ensure programs are well-supported and effectively marketed. Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Leisure Studies, Physical Education, or a related field.
- Experience in planning and implementing community-based recreational programs.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Experience working with diverse populations including children, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.
- Knowledge of grant writing and fundraising for recreational programs.
- Familiarity with social media and digital marketing to promote programs.
- Experience using recreation management software.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, plan, and coordinate recreational programs and special events that meet the needs of the community.
- Conduct needs assessments and gather feedback to tailor programs to diverse populations.
- Manage program budgets, resources, and schedules to ensure efficient operation.
- Collaborate with community partners, volunteers, and staff to support program delivery and promotion.
