About The Company
We have been providing a home for seniors where comfort and happiness comes first since 1970. Currently 142 reside in our nursing home while 24 apartments provide couples or individuals with independent or assisted-living. Over 250 people kind and skilled professionals are employed by Grand View Manor to provide loving care within a close-knit community. Over the years, tremendous changes have provided our staff team and our many volunteers with both opportunities and challenges.
About the Role

About the Role:

The Recreation Programmer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing a diverse range of recreational programs and activities that promote community engagement, wellness, and social interaction. This role involves assessing community needs and interests to develop inclusive programs that cater to various age groups and abilities. The Recreation Programmer collaborates with community organizations, volunteers, and other stakeholders to ensure programs are well-supported and effectively marketed. They oversee the scheduling, budgeting, and evaluation of programs to ensure quality and continuous improvement. Ultimately, this position aims to enhance the quality of life for community members by providing accessible and enjoyable recreational opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Leisure Studies, Physical Education, or a related field.
  • Experience in planning and implementing community-based recreational programs.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including children, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of grant writing and fundraising for recreational programs.
  • Familiarity with social media and digital marketing to promote programs.
  • Experience using recreation management software.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, plan, and coordinate recreational programs and special events that meet the needs of the community.
  • Conduct needs assessments and gather feedback to tailor programs to diverse populations.
  • Manage program budgets, resources, and schedules to ensure efficient operation.
  • Collaborate with community partners, volunteers, and staff to support program delivery and promotion.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments to improve participation and satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and organizational policies during all activities.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records related to program participation and outcomes.
