About the Role

Peer Tutor, SC1TUTORSPEER (FA26)
Student Worker Eligibility:
Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived.
If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 
Provide tutoring to COD students in a variety of subjects.

  • Provide course-based academic assistance to students in courses where tutor has subject-matter proficiency.
  • Conduct class visits at start of semester to promote tutoring service options.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • THIS IS A STUDENT JOB.
      • High school diploma or equivalent.
      • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
      • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above.
      • If a student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds.
    • Experience
      • Proficient in spoken and written English required.
      • Demonstrated proficiency (i.e., “A” or “B” grade in course) in courses/subject areas most frequently requested by faculty and students.
      • Experience with online interactive technology (i.e. Zoom) preferred.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Licenses and Certifications
      • COD Training
        • Compliance Training

      Working Conditions:

    • Up to 20 hrs./week during Fall/Spring academic semesters and up to 25 hrs./week during Summer academic semester. Some evening or weekend hours may be required.
    • Up-to-date skills in relevant technology.
    • This position is subject to a background check and education verification at the expense of the College.
    • Pay Rate: Student Rate 2 - $15.80 per hour
