About the Role

Job Description Summary

Join the Turbine Aerodynamics team at GE Aerospace Advanced Technology in Garching, Munich, as a Working Student, and bring your coding skills to real-world aerospace engineering challenges. You will help develop and improve in-house software tools, automate engineering processes, and create efficient data-driven workflows that support the design of advanced turbine technologies. Coding and software development in this role will be supported by modern AI-assisted tools such as GitHub Copilot, giving you the opportunity to gain experience with contemporary development practices in addition to contributing to impactful engineering solutions. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on practical software solutions with direct impact, collaborate closely with engineers, and gain valuable experience where digital innovation meets cutting-edge aerospace technology.

The start date will be August 2026, and the minimum time frame is 6 months.
Working hours: 20/week

Job Description

Responsibilities 

  • Support the development, maintenance, and improvement of in-house software tools used by the Turbine Aerodynamics team 

  • Help automate engineering workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort 

  • Assist with data processing, analysis, and visualization for aerodynamic applications 

  • Contribute to debugging, testing, and documenting software solutions 

  • Work closely with aerodynamic engineers to understand user needs and translate them into practical digital solutions 

  • Support the optimization of existing tools and scripts for performance, usability, and reliability 

  • Participate in implementing new features for internal engineering applications 

Qualifications 

  • Students in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, or a related field (BSc 3rd year or MSc preferred) 

  • Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, and bash scripting 

  • Experience with, or strong interest in learning, AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub-Copilot 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 

  • Interest in software development and digital tools for engineering applications 

  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills 

  • Ability to work independently and in a structured manner 

  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team 

  • Very good English skills, written and spoken 

  • A proactive mindset with a drive to tackle challenges and achieve results.
