Basic Job Functions:
Responsible for assigned aspects of the maintenance and operation of utility scale PV power plant. Duties include monitoring PV Plant operation through SCADA, commissioning, testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying AC and DC solar PV systems, including inverters, PV module arrays, transformers, switchgear, and metering systems.
Experience:
- Less than 1 year of experience in a related position.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Required Skills/Competencies:
- Understanding of electrical safety and arc flash standards.
- Ability to follow operating, switching, maintenance, safety and environmental procedures.
- Must have a safety background with experience in Lockout Tag Out and Job Hazard Analysis.
- Knowledge of local and national electrical codes.
- Basic understanding of Electrical schematics and prints.
- Understanding of electrical principles.
- With oversight, able to retrieve relay files and documentation.
- Proven computer skills in a Windows environment (Microsoft Office Products)is required.
- Must possess good English oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
- Self-directed and accountable, able to think critically about processes and issues.
- Highest level of Integrity.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in heat, wind, and varying weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe work environment by strict adherence to company protocols.
- Responsible for personal safety, quality and schedule adherence.
- Comply with Job Hazard Analysis, Pre-Job Brief and Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures.
- Ensure all documentation and required reports are reviewed, complete,submitted and filed.
- Communicate cross-functionally across all necessary parts of the organization to achieve resolution to plant issues.
- Attend, participate in and pass all assigned training in safety, environmental and other areas as assigned.
- Maintain work area and site housecleaning to 5S standards.
PV Module Support:
- Assist with the removal and installation of PV solar modules under supervision.
- Support module change-outs due to damage, defects, or maintenance requirements.
- Handle tools, equipment, and materials safely and responsibly.
Cleaning & Inspections:
- Assist with cleaning PV modules and site equipment as required.
- Participate in visual inspections of modules, racking, and site components.
- Report observed defects, damage, or safety concerns to the supervisor.
Learning & Process Support:
- Learn standard operating procedures related to solar PV operations and maintenance.
- Follow documented maintenance, safety, and work processes.
- Assist full-time technicians and learn best practices in the field.
General Labor & Site Support:
- Perform general labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, organizing materials, and site housekeeping.
- Support site upkeep, fencing, vegetation control, and cleanliness.
- Assist with inventory handling and basic site logistics.
Health & Safety:
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and site rules.
- Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Participate in safety meetings and job hazard assessments.
- Maintain awareness of working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationships:
- Will report to most senior site manager or supervisor depending on site organizational structure.
- May have tasks assigned by advanced technical staff – Technician III and above.
Travel:
- Travel will be required depending on the needs of the region.
