Summary

Under the general direction of the Community Public Health Director, serves as supporting role in Calhoun County Public Health Department’s Community Public Health programs. This internship allows students to expand their skills in community health education and public health surveillance. This is a seasonal internship with an anticipated end date of September 30, 2026.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Help coordinate, prepare for, and attend community health events, health fairs, workshops, and outreach activities.
  2. Assist CCPHD epidemiologist with public health surveillance, and preparation of public health reports, summaries, and presentations.
  3. Assist CCPHD health educator and other staff with development and distribution of educational materials and outreach initiatives.
  4. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or obtaining within the next 3 months.
  • Candidate must demonstrate experience or strong interest in the fields of Public Health, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Health Science, Biology, Entomology, or other closely related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft word and Excel.
  • A valid Michigan’s Driver license, and acceptable driving record, and a personal vehicle including proof of insurance are required.

  • None

Working Conditions

Hybrid Work Classification: Hybrid eligible
Flexibility Classification: Flexible schedule eligible

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Largely sedentary role with extensive computer work.
  • Driving requirements.
  • Frequent work with community members.
Wage Range
$20$20 USD
