About the Role

The Human Resources Front Desk Intern will support the Human Resources division by serving as the first point of contact for GOAA employees visiting or calling Human Resources. This role provides hands‑on exposure to Employee Relations, records management, filing, and general HR administrative op erations. The intern will gain foundational experience in professional communication, confidentiality, and HR service delivery while contributing to the efficiency of daily HR functions.

  • Serve as the initial point of contact for employees visiting the HR office.
  • Provide courteous, professional customer service and route employees to the appropriate HR staff member or resource.
  • Answer phone calls, take messages, and assist with general HR inquiries.
  • Maintain the organization and professional appearance of the HR reception area.
  • Support Employee Relations staff by assisting with intake of employee questions or concerns.
  • Learn proper documentation protocols and observe how HR triages employee-related issues.
  • Assist with preparing ER-related correspondence and maintaining secure and confidential files.
  • Gain an understanding of workplace policies, standards of conduct, and HR best practices.
  • Assist with organizing, scanning, and filing personnel documents in accordance with GOAA records retention guidelines.
  • Help maintain electronic and physical personnel files, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Support periodic audits of HR files to ensure complete and proper documentation.
  • Learn about public records requirements and confidentiality standards.
  • Assist with preparing HR materials, forms, and onboarding packets.
  • Help maintain HR calendars, training schedules, and appointment coordination.
  • Provide support for HR events, employee engagement initiatives, and special projects as assigned.
