Energy Services Internship
This internship focuses on an introductory look at the Energy Efficiency Industry in New York state. Candidates will be involved in energy auditing residential homes and potentially small business in search of energy efficiency upgrades to help customers lower their energy costs and improve overall comfort of their building.
In New York State this is driven through many different programs run by NYSERDA. So the internship will provide overviews of the benefits and incentives of each of the programs as well as the eligibility requirements. When evaluating the buildings opportunities, a good understanding of the eligible incentives for that specific project is necessary to lower the overall cost to the consumer and removes hurdles preventing projects from moving forward.
Exposure to the following items will be covered in the internship.
- Project tracking through software like Airtable
- Energy usage and project modeling through various software’s
- Document/Project submissions to multiple programs
- Site inspections/Energy Audits
- building science/construction
- Customer communication relating to Energy efficiency projects
- Professional document preparation to present to the customer
- Scheduling
- Construction Management
- Actual energy efficiency work or
If the candidate is seriously considering a career choice in the EE industry this internship will provide building blocks which can lead to many different job types for over a few hundred companies in the state as well as ours.
Part time and full-time internships will be considered depending on the candidate’s availability. Hourly wage ranges from $15-$18/hr.
Requirements
NYSERDA lists that, to be eligible for this internship program with Collis, "you must qualify as at least one of the following:
- An individual currently attending or who attended a degree program at a college or university, located in New York State within the within the last 12 months as of the date of the intern application.
- A current New York State resident attending or who attended a college or university outside of New York State within the last 12 months as of the date of the intern application. New York State residency, with proof of residency such as rental agreement or utility bills, must have been established prior to the start of the internship.
- New York State residents who are members of a disadvantaged community and/or Priority Population."
