About the Role

Glencore's Information Technology group develops and supports a range of IT applications and infrastructure to meet the needs of a fast moving, international commodity trading business.  The London-based team primarily focuses on energy trading (oil, gas, power, and shipping) and industrial oil assets; and supports business users across several offices globally.   This team will manage and maintain all user access changes for Oil & Gas Marketing systems globally.

The Environment and Release Intern will be responsible for supporting the Environment & Release Manager in the management and coordination of aspects of IT environments and software releases within the organization. This role involves ensuring the stability, reliability, and scalability of IT environments, as well as managing the end-to-end process of releasing new software updates and changes.

Key Responsibilities

Environment Management:

  • Ensure the environments are kept up to date with current code drops to ensure they are fit for purpose for dev/test teams.
  • Ensure the environments are properly configured, secure, and aligned with the company's architectural standards.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, development, and operations teams to optimize environment usage and performance.
  • Monitor environment health and proactively address issues to prevent downtime and disruptions.
  • Participate in the management of Environment & Release Incident Mgmt. process to ensure that Environment issues are progressed and resolved in a timely manner
  • Assist in the production of Monthly Dashboards/reports for Non-Production environment issues to enable continuous improvement to reduce Environment issues.
  • Provide IT wide comms on upcoming initiatives from the Environment and Release function
     

Release Management:

  • Support Environment Manager with Release Management activities.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in Environment and Release management.
  • Investigate automation strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce manual efforts.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies and recommend innovations to improve IT operations.
  • Participate in any Proof of Concepts for new tooling to aid Continuous Improvement in the Environment and Release function.
  • Improve and Enhance Environment Monitoring and Alerting
