ROLE SUMMARY: The Finance Intern supports the hotel’s Finance Department by assisting with daily accounting functions, financial reporting processes, account reconciliations, and administrative projects while gaining hands-on exposure to hospitality financial operations. This role provides practical experience in hotel accounting practices, financial analysis, internal controls, and cross-departmental collaboration to support operational and financial success. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  Assist with daily accounting and finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue reconciliation, and journal entry preparation. Support month-end closing processes by gathering documentation, reconciling accounts, and preparing reports for review. Review and verify financial transactions for accuracy and compliance with hotel policies and accounting procedures. Assist with auditing revenue reports, cashier banks, deposits, and financial discrepancies across hotel departments. Prepare spreadsheets, reports, and analysis to support forecasting, budgeting, and financial decision-making. Maintain organized financial records, filing systems, and documentation in accordance with company retention standards. Collaborate with operational departments to resolve billing, coding, invoice, or reconciliation discrepancies. Assist with data entry and reporting within hotel financial systems and accounting software platforms. Observe and learn internal financial controls, compliance standards, and audit procedures within a luxury hospitality environment. Participate in special projects, process improvement initiatives, and other finance-related assignments as directed by leadership. Always maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and business information. All other duties as assigned.  ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the hotel for extended periods. Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 15 lbs occasionally. Ability to work in a professional office environment with frequent computer and desk work. Must be able to bend, reach, and maintain prolonged periods of computer usage and data entry. QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field. Strong analytical and mathematical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (formulas, spreadsheets, reporting functions). Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and respectfully. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills. Willingness to learn hospitality financial systems and accounting processes. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Previous internship, accounting, finance, or hospitality experience. Exposure to hotel property management systems and accounting platforms (such as Birchstreet, Peoplesoft, Opera, or similar systems). Intermediate to advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and financial reporting tools. Interest in pursuing a long-term career in hospitality finance or hotel accounting leadership.
