We're looking for a EHS Intern to support the Environment, Health & Safety team in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies within PPG manufacturing environment. You will gain hands-on experience in hazard identification, risk assessment, environmental monitoring, and safety program implementation. You will report to EHS Manager and based at PPG PJ Plant.
Main Responsibilities
Assist in conducting routine safety inspections and audits across the plant.
Support risk assessments (HIRARC / JSA) for operations and maintenance activities.
Help investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions.
Participate in awareness programs.
Monitor compliance with PPE requirements and safe work practices.
Support monitoring of air emissions, wastewater discharge, and hazardous waste handling.
Assist in maintaining environmental records and reports in compliance with local regulations (e.g., DOE requirements).
Participate in activities related to ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
Assist in waste segregation and chemical storage compliance.
Assist in monitoring industrial hygiene parameters (noise, chemical exposure, ventilation).
Support occupational health programs such as health surveillance and exposure monitoring.
Maintain and update EHS documentation, records, and checklists.
Assist in preparing EHS reports, KPIs, and compliance submissions.
Support implementation of ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System.
Support coordination of EHS training sessions for employees and contractors.
Assist in developing training materials, posters, and safety campaigns.
Participate in emergency drills such as fire evacuation and spill response.
Support emergency preparedness programs and drills.
Participate in incident response exercises.
Qualifications
Undergo a bachelor's degree in Safety and Health, Environment or equivalent.
Innovative and original thinking requiring analytical, interpretive, evaluative, or constructive skills to develop creative solutions.
Interpret regulations/policy to provide specific EHS guidance.
Ability to operate in variety of different cultural settings.
Fluency in English and the national language.
