SUMMARY
The Psychiatry resident shall function under the supervision of the attending medical staff. In this role, the resident assists with admissions, consultations, evaluations, diagnosis and treatments of hospital patients. He/she may provide verbal, written and telephone orders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned
1. Consistently supports and communicates the Mission, Vision and Values of Loretto Hospital.

3. Promotes a culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, proper
4. Supportive of the compliance program set forth by Loretto Hospital and demonstrated by:
a. Upholds the Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance.
b. Adheres to dealing appropriately and fairly with employee misconduct.
c. Enforces all compliance policies as they pertain to his/her area.
d. Provides and assures timely compliance education as requested by the Compliance Officer and/or through corporate initiatives.
5. Meet the Program's standards for learning and advancement, including the objective demonstration of the acquisition of knowledge and skills
6. Demonstrate behavior that is ethically and morally in keeping with the Resident’s position as a physician
7. Refrain from behavior that adversely influences the welfare of the Hospital’s Programs, Residents, and/or staff
8. Actively participate in the care of all patients to which the Resident is assigned
9. Complete all assigned rotations developed by the Program in accordance with Council of Accreditation Council Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) guidelines for training in the Program’s field of medicine
10. Follow established guidelines for following and reporting duty hours
11. Comply with procedure and case log reporting requirements
12. Participate in institutional and departmental committees and councils and in the quality assurance activities of the clinical services to which he or she is assigned
13. Participate in an educational program regarding physician impairment, including substance abuse and sleep deprivation
14. Abide by all applicable policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the Hospital and the affiliate sites and institutions to which the Resident is assigned
15. Read and comply with program and departmental policies and procedures
16. Comply with the duties and responsibilities assigned by the Program Director
17. Required to complete medical records in a timely manner. Mandatory components of the Program include: dictation of chart summaries, signing of patient orders, and compliance with the rules and regulations of the medical records departments of each affiliated hospital to which the Resident is assigned.
COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
• Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
• Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Graduate of a University or school of Medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education or Educational for Foreign Medical Graduates.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk as well as occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and ability to speak are necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, sharp eye focus and ability to distinguish colors. There may be periods of stressful, intense concentration with more than average pressure used in a variety of problem solving situations.
