The Opportunity - Student, Library / Learning Commons Aide  

The Student Library Aide works part-time in the Library and Learning Commons during the evenings and weekends, to assure access to the resources in these areas to students, staff, and public patrons. 

Key Job Functions:

  • Provide service desk support for students, staff, and visiting users of the library including password resets, basic technical support, and general customer service.
  • Provide basic Library circulation and collection management duties such as shelving items, shelf reading, and associated tasks as directed.
  • Perform Library functions such as interlibrary loans, receiving periodicals, maintaining the library guides, and creating displays to promote library items
  • Perform other Library and Support related duties as assigned.
  • Ensure the Learning Commons is opened on time on Saturdays and Sundays and closed at the end of each day.
  • Acts ethically, openly, honestly, and respectfully to build and maintain an environment of trust, safety, and well-being.

Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Minimum of a grade 10 education
  • Must be a current student and attending either high school or higher education in the year in which they will be working
  • Previous experience working in customer service positions, basic computer skills and knowledge of the internet are preferred 

Conditions of Employment: 

  • Current Criminal Reference check that is free of any offenses
  • Must respect and actively promote health and safety policies
