About the Role

POSITION OVERVIEW:

 

Under the direction and immediate supervision of the Training Director, the Doctoral Intern performs clinical duties, such as conducting individual therapy, conducting group therapy, and psychological testing. The Intern’s weekly schedule includes some evening hours. The intern also participates in weekly training activities, which include supervision and didactic training.

 

Salary: $40,000 per year

Shift: M-F 3 days and 2 evening shifts per week

Location: New Lenox, IL

NETWORK OR DEPARTMENT:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Maintains a caseload of individual clients, meeting with them for regularly scheduled sessions
  • Directs treatment for individuals on their caseload, working with the training director to utilize effective evidence-based interventions
  • Conceptualizes a client’s behaviors in a phenomenologically empathic manner, drawing upon a working knowledge of theory with the support and supervision of the Training Director
  • Meets or exceeds benchmark or face to face client contact set by their program requirements, the Training Director, and Network 9 Director
  • Submits documentation for services in a timely fashion
  • Demonstrates knowledge of correct procedures for Medicaid billing
  • Coordinates with team members when necessary
  • Demonstrates an ability to interact with clients and coworkers in an effective manner
  • Is an active participant in trainings, case consultations, and regularly scheduled staff meetings
  • Communicates any identified problem areas or concerns to the Training Director
  • Works collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary treatment team, which includes employment and crisis services, in helping persons supported achieve their goals
  • Advises the Training Director of any immediate or non-immediate concerns regarding any program participants

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Knowledge of empirically based therapy models
  • Able to make independent decisions and problem solve
  • Able to deal effectively with staff, clients, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
  • Able to promote good staff relations and employee morale
  • Able to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the agency’s, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, necessary for providing quality care
  • Able to execute policies, procedures, and regulations and when necessary, explain them to clients, family members, members of the community, and staff from other agencies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strongly self-motivated

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Be able to lift over 40 pounds from floor to waist unassisted
  • Be able to push and pull 75 pounds
  • Be able to complete deep knee squats
  • Be able to push wheelchairs up to 200 pounds
  • Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
  • Operate motor vehicles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment
  • Physical activities that could be used include: driving, balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and repetitive motion.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in clinical psychology or related field.
