EAGLES is a comprehensive transition program (CTP) for students with intellectual disabilities. The program provides a postsecondary education opportunity for students with intellectual disabilities to engage in a two or four-year campus experience. It is a non-degreed program focusing on (1) academic enrichment, (2) personal and social skills, (3) independence, (4) health and wellness, and (5) integrated work experiences. About the Role
Overview

The Graduate Assistant for Athletic Facilities supports the daily operations, maintenance, and event coordination of Auburn University athletic facilities while gaining valuable experience in project management, systems oversight, and operational efficiency. This position provides a practical environment for applying analytical and problem-solving skills through responsibilities related to safety inspections, process optimization, resource tracking, and vendor coordination. Working under the supervision of the Directors/Assistant Director of Athletic Facilities, the GA will contribute to the safety, functionality, and readiness of facilities for practices, competitions, and special events, while developing leadership, organizational, and technical skills transferable to professional disciplines.

 

Overview: A Graduate Assistant is provided with an educational experience aligned with or related to their program of study whereby they apply the specific functional knowledge, skills and abilities gained from their overall educational program. There may be duties other than teaching, research or extension, and the following guidelines must be adhered to:

  • At least 60% of the student’s primary duties and responsibilities are directly related their program of study.
  • No more than 25% of the student’s duties and responsibilities are administrative/clerical in nature. (i.e. event setup and takedown, filing, copying, etc.)

Responsibilities

Facility Operations & Maintenance

  • Assist with the upkeep and maintenance of athletic facilities by helping coordinate equipment checks, tracking inventories, and reporting facility issues for resolution
  • Applying analytical skills similar to system monitoring.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs to assess and report safety, functionality, and cleanliness, reinforcing compliance standards and risk mitigation practices.
  • Support initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, resource management, and preventive maintenance processes.

Event Coordination

  • Support the setup and breakdown of events, practices, and competitions by assisting with logistics, equipment layout, and scheduling needs, using organizational skills that parallel project coordination in professional settings
  • Collaborate with maintenance and event personnel to ensure efficient event preparation and smooth operational flow.

Scheduling & Communication

      • Aid in managing facility scheduling for internal and external users to optimize facility usage and operational efficiency.
      • Serve as a point of contact for facility users, addressing questions, providing support, and directing needs to the appropriate personnel, reinforcing professional communication and problem-solving skills.

Vendor & Partner Support

      • Assist in coordinating with vendors and service providers during facility-related projects or service calls, ensuring proper documentation, follow-up, and process
      • Monitor maintenance timelines, track service requests, and support quality assurance efforts related to facility operations.

Special Projects & Administrative Support

      • Contribute to facility improvement projects, maintenance planning, and operational documentation, applying principles of process optimization and data-driven analysis.
      • Collaborate with Athletics staff and student workers on special assignments and game-day operations, building teamwork and leadership skills.
      • Oversee inspections and cleanliness of vehicle fleet, reinforcing safety and compliance standards.
      • Perform departmental mail distribution and other administrative duties as
      • Complies with all applicable National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Southeastern Conference (SEC) regulations in the performance of job duties

 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Acceptance or current enrollment in a relevant graduate program at Auburn
  • Registered for at least one course during each academic term of the
  • Strong organizational and communication
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Interest in sports facility operations, event management, or athletics

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in athletics, facility operations, or event
  • Familiarity with scheduling systems or maintenance
  • Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced
