Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and Wednesday, Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The GBH Development Division plays a vital role in helping to finance broadcast, video, digital, and audio programs, including some of the premier and most celebrated dramas, investigative journalism, innovative documentaries and podcasts, and other local and national programming in the public media system. The Annual Fund team is focused on raising over $9 million in unrestricted support for GBH and CAI, our Cape and Islands public radio station, from donors giving $900 or more. In addition to executing a robust set of solicitations, the Annual Fund programs an array of events and communications to strengthen supporters’ loyalty and signal how important and appreciated they are for their contributions.  

JOB OVERVIEW

The Summer/Fall 2026 Annual Fund Co-op will work for six months on a full-time basis between July and December 2026, to support GBH’s major annual patron programs - Beacon Circle and Champions Circle - and CAI’s Founders Circle. This co-op will have the unique opportunity to learn about the dynamic facets of major annual fundraising at a large public media organization and will also benefit from the knowledge of intersecting teams in the development division such as Membership, Events, Operations, Major Gifts, Prospect Management, Gift Planning and Endowment, Board Relations and Foundation Development, as they relate to major annual giving. The Annual Fund Co-op is expected to have an interest in nonprofit management, fundraising, donor relations and/or marketing and communications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research and develop ideas for patron program communications and marketing
  • Support administrative facets of annual giving work, including routine data entry
  • Draft, edit, and/or format letters, proposals, emails, newsletters and other correspondence
  • Assist with the organization and execution of print mailings
  • Coordinate and curate content for webpages and social media
  • Assist with stewardship and recognition initiatives, including new patron communications, tax acknowledgments, letters of gratitude, and ticket distribution for special events
  • Support Beacon Circle volunteer committee meetings and peer-to-peer outreach
  • Provide support to development officers for donor meetings
  • Manage and carry out short-term and long-term special projects, as requested
  • Support special events and board meetings as needed, may ask for availability outside typical 9am-5pm work hours

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Excellent organizational, computer, communication, problem-solving and interpersonal skills are essential
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills are required
  • Intellectual curiosity and interest in the development field is highly desired
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and familiarity with CRM databases preferred
  • Demonstrated comfort learning new systems and applications
  • Candidates must have their own computer and access to Wi-Fi

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must be enrolled in a formal co-op program while obtaining a higher education degree.

LOCATION

This role is based in Boston, MA, and requires your on-site presence every Tuesday and Wednesday at our Brighton office. Additional in-office days and evenings may be required at the discretion of your manager.
