Founded in 1984, Habitat for Humanity of Omaha is a grassroots organization that builds and renovates houses, forges community partnerships and breaks down barriers. We help to grow and maintain the quality, affordable housing stock in Burt County, Douglas County, Sarpy County, Washington and Cass County while increasing access to homeownership opportunities throughout the area. Habitat Omaha homebuyers complete up to 275 hours of sweat equity before purchasing their homes through a 30-year affordable mortgage. We mobilize thousands of donors and volunteers every year in this mission.
About the Role

Description

The Family Services Intern is responsible for assisting the Family Services Department with helping the community achieve and sustain affordable homeownership. This role assists with pre-closing preparations and provides technical support and culturally competent customer service from intake to closing where needed.  The position will build and maintain strong partnerships with program staff and mortgage team staff to implement efficient processes leading to compliant, timely and successful residential mortgage closings.  This position will also help document processes and assist in updating standard operating procedures.

Requirements

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

  • Works with Family Services to provide coverage for intake for homeownership program
  • Assists lead staff with the homeownership intake process including documents that meet compliance 
  • Helps maintain shared access tracking system to monitor status of all items leading to mortgage closing date
  • Assists with the resolving problems throughout application process through closing
  • Helps in creating and updating SOP’s for the department
  • Assists with Outreach program as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY DUTIES: None


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • GED or high school diploma, required, bachelor degree in related field, preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, required. Bi/multi-languages, a plus
  • Outstanding customer service skills with diverse, multi-lingual populations and organizational partners
  • MS Office suite and database experience required
  • Highly motivated and organized towards team success including organizational goals and individual professional development goals
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • High level of attention to detail required
  • Requires evening and weekend hours, as needed
  • Goal oriented and Habitat Omaha mission driven required
