We are seeking a motivated and analytical Capital Markets Intern to join our Capital Markets team. This internship provides hands-on exposure to the mortgage lending industry with a focus on secondary marketing, pricing, loan trading, investor relations, analytics, and operational support.
This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate interested in mortgage banking, finance, capital markets, economics, or financial analysis to gain practical experience in a fast-paced lending environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily capital markets operations including pricing, pipeline monitoring, and investor reporting.
- Assist with tracking mortgage loan pipeline activity and maintaining data accuracy across systems.
- Help prepare reports and dashboards related to lock volume, pull-through, margin performance, and loan sale activity.
- Conduct market and competitor research to support pricing and business decisions.
- Assist with secondary marketing functions including loan delivery and investor documentation.
- Review loan data for completeness and identify discrepancies for resolution.
- Support analysis of mortgage-backed securities (MBS), interest rate trends, and market movements.
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Underwriting, Closing, and Finance teams.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and operational projects.
- Maintain documentation and support ad hoc reporting requests.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Real Estate, Mortgage Banking, or a related field.
- Strong interest in mortgage lending, capital markets, financial services, or banking.
- Basic understanding of financial concepts, interest rates, and market fundamentals preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets; experience with formulas, pivots, and reporting preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Exposure to mortgage lending, secondary marketing, or financial analytics is a plus.
- Coursework or internship exposure in finance, banking, accounting, or economics.
- Familiarity with mortgage terminology and loan lifecycle concepts.
- Experience using reporting tools, BI platforms, or data analysis tools is a plus.
