About The Company
The Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation is the fundraising, communications and public relations arm of the Yee Hong community. The Foundation raises funds to cover the operational expenses of services and programs of the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care and the capital to build new Centres. Our fundraising efforts include soliciting major donations from philanthropists and corporations, and canvassing support from organizations, small businesses, professionals and individuals in various communities. We also run major events annually to raise funds, including the Dragon Ball black tie gala to celebrate Chinese New Year; the Dragon Raffle; the Yee Hong Telethon; the Yee Hong Earth Walk; and the Yee Hong Golf Classic tournament.
About the Role

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care (Yee Hong) is a recognized leader in senior care, dedicated to providing exceptional, culturally inclusive services that enhance the well-being of older adults. With a strong reputation for excellence in long-term care, community programs, and aging-in-place initiatives, Yee Hong is committed to supporting seniors in living with dignity, independence, and the best possible quality of life. Yee Hong is one of the foremost providers of culturally appropriate senior care in the country, delivering high-quality resident experience and care to Chinese and other Asian seniors since 1994. The organization operates 805 long-term care beds and 308 seniors’ apartment units, with an additional 224 long-term care beds opening in a new home by June 2026. In addition, Yee Hong offers four campuses of managed care, a hospice residence, and a wide range of community-based senior and caregiver support services. Through this comprehensive network, the organization serves more than 15,000 individuals annually across the Greater Toronto Area.

 

Social Services Volunteer Coordinator, sponsored by the Government of Canada, as per the Canada Summer Jobs Program (CSJ) 2026 initiative.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Volunteer Recruitment and Outreach:

    • Support the Volunteer Recruitment Campaign targeting specific groups, including boomers, retirees, students, and new immigrants.

    • Organize special interest presentations to engage and attract prospective volunteers.

    • Develop and enhance electronic promotional materials (e.g., posters, brochures, newsletters) to strengthen outreach efforts.

  • Volunteer Orientation and Onboarding:

    • Implement orientation and training sessions for new volunteers.

    • Assist volunteer applicants throughout the application and placement process to ensure a smooth onboarding experience.

  • Volunteer Engagement and Program Development:

    • Develop strategies to form and engage volunteer groups.

    • Collaborate with teams to expand services through effective volunteer engagement.

  • Administrative Support:

    • Organize volunteer-related documents. and assist with filing and e-filing to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.

Contract Length: 8 weeks

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Rate: $17.60/hour

Qualifications:

  • Must be between the ages of 15-30 years of age at the start of the job

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally able to work in Ontario

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment and legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills

  • Proven demonstrated initiative

  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office)

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Ability to work remotely as required 

  • Previous experience working with the elderly population an asset

  • Good oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of Chinese, Japanese or a South-Asian language required for some positions

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required

  • commit to working for the duration of the entire employment contract
