Position Summary

Location: Rio Grande High School

An Off-Campus Work-Study Position - MUST have a Work-Study Award

NM2050 is a small non-profit that manages several agriculture and nutrition internship programs at the Rio Grande Community Farm and other agriculture locations.    The internship program is connected with APS Career and Technical Education. High School students work with a teacher at several work sites.  High School students work 3 days at agriculture related businesses, 1 day of field trips and 1 day in the classroom.

The Field Supervisor works with a supervising teacher to help oversee a student crew that works at various agriculture industry locations such as farms, Farm to Table businesses, food distribution sites, etc.  The Field supervisor must be comfortable supervising high school students to keep them on task, provide guidance and feedback on job skills such as communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and safety.  The duty day is 9-12, M-F pay is $20 hr. Plus a gas allowance for travel to multiple locations if necessary. Field Supervisors meet daily at several job locations.  The Field Supervisor will be assigned to either Valley or Sandia High School teachers. 

Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Preferred Qualifications

 Ability to perform manual labor with students.  Able to tolerate high temperatures.  Can accept guidance from a supervising teacher. Able to motivate and guide students at work sites.  Have reliable transportation.
