About the Role
Job Summary
- These part-time positions (5 to 10hours per week@ $15.00 hr) are responsible for assisting Dr. Carla Garzon (K.H. Littlefield Professor of Plant Science, Delaware Valley University) to conduct research on controlled environment crops. This internship is funded by the K.H. Littlefield Endowment to Delaware Valley University.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Assist senior investigators on laboratory and greenhouse assays.
- Compile and organize research project related literature.
- Assist in routine laboratory and greenhouse activities related to crop management, microbial culture maintenance, greenhouse and lab assay set-up and clean-up.
- Help in the development of educational materials.
- Help with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
- Data analysis.
Job Qualifications
- Agriculture/horticulture, biology, chemistry, food science, business and/or agribusiness majors
- Good interpersonal skills, team players, so they can train new team members.
- Good time and project management so they can plan and execute laboratory and/or green house assays during working hours.
- Willingness to learn new technical skills related to horticulture, plant pathology, microbiology, entomology and molecular biology, bioinformatics, statistics.
- Good basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Zoom, etc.)
- Satisfactorily passed courses Cannabis I and/or Medicinal Plants (preferred but not required).
Work Environment
- Molecular biology, microbiology, plant propagation laboratories
- Research greenhouses
- May need to carry weight of up to 40 lb.
- Exposed to noise caused by laboratory/greenhouse equipment.
