BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISION

Technology and connectivity are rapidly reaching some of the most vulnerable people and places affected by crisis, but they are also increasingly expanding to the services responding to those same crises. As one of the main humanitarian actors, WFP has the opportunity and the obligation to leverage data and technology to better know and serve those in need by digitally transforming the way it works. Such ambition led to a plan aimed at establishing, integrating, and mainstreaming - in the next two years - the core elements of an end-to- end digital business process.

As such, the Technology Division (TEC) has embarked in a transformation journey to become a flexible, customer-centric, digital leader and is currently looking for a Portfolio Performance Analyst (fellow) to join the Resource Management branch (TECR) and support the way in driving greater discipline and portfolio management standardization across the TEC function.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Accountabilities and responsibilities include:

  • Support performance monitoring and portfolio analysis activities by consolidating inputs from the Portfolio Management team and branch portfolio managers, and helping identify emerging risks, issues, and follow‑up actions.
  • Draft and update periodic performance outputs, including dashboards and summary reports, to provide visibility on TEC delivery progress and results at portfolio and branch level.
  • Support the extraction, quality checks, and updates of portfolio data in ServiceNow (Project Portfolio Management tool) to ensure accurate and consistent performance reporting.
  • Contribute to the refinement of portfolio performance processes, templates, and reporting standards, supporting alignment with divisional structures and governance requirements.
  • Assist in tracking progress, performance trends, and workplan alignment across TEC branches by liaising with portfolio managers, project managers, and key stakeholders.
  • Support the preparation and circulation of Notes for the Record (NFRs) for key portfolio management meetings, including the CIO Project Review Meeting and TEC Assessment Meetings, ensuring timely follow‑up and proper documentation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Deliverables at the end of the assignment:

  • Maintained and regularly updated tracking of key TEC portfolio milestones, deliverables, outputs, outcomes, and KPIs within the workplan and project portfolio management tool.
  • Draft performance reports summarizing divisional progress, key risks, blockers, and follow‑up actions.
  • Prepared and circulated Notes for the Record (NFRs) for CIO Project Review and TEC Assessment meetings, supporting consistency in reporting and follow‑up actions.
  • Prepared and maintained internal and corporate reports in the divisional PPM tool and agreed reporting frameworks, supporting visibility of TEC portfolio progress and alignment with WFP strategic objectives.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be a Master's student or a graduate in Business Administration, Finance, Project Management, or a related field from a recognized university;
  • Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency/level C). Working knowledge of another official UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian plus Portuguese) is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to issue resolution.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point).
  • Strong team player coupled with demonstrated ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.

TRAINING COMPONENTS

Throughout the assignment, selected candidates have access to an industry leading learning platforms, WeLearn and Workday.  Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.

LEARNING ELEMENTS

At the end of the assignment, The selected candidate should:

  • Develop practical experience in IT portfolio and performance monitoring, including tracking progress, milestones, and results of digital and technology initiatives using industry-standard tools such as ServiceNow.
  • Strengthen analytical and reporting capabilities by working with performance data, dashboards, and indicators (e.g. KPIs and value metrics) to support evidence‑based portfolio and management reporting.
  • Gain hands-on exposure to portfolio performance processes and governance, including reporting cycles, documentation standards, and follow‑up mechanisms supporting TEC decision‑making forums.
  • Enhance communication and collaboration skills through regular interaction with portfolio managers, project managers, and cross‑functional stakeholders across TEC.
  • Build foundational experience in planning, performance, and portfolio management by supporting workplan tracking and alignment with organizational objectives and strategic priorities.
  • Develop problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills by contributing to the identification of risks, issues, and performance gaps, and supporting follow‑up actions within IT and digital initiatives.

TYPE OF ASSIGNMENT

This opportunity is particularly well-suited for students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in an international organization. It offers valuable exposure to WFP’s operations and the chance to contribute meaningfully to its mission.
