Job Title: Summer Intern
Pay & FSLA Status: Competitive Compensation, D.O.E.; Hourly non-exempt
Regular Schedule & Shift: Monday – Friday; Day shift

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the coordinated and collective direction of department heads, the Summer Intern actively contributes to department projects and tasks to gain experience and knowledge in various areas of the business. This position will have the opportunity to work with employees across multiple business units, functions, and branches, and contribute to a variety of projects and systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support business operations by performing day-to-day administrative, clerical, and other miscellaneous job-related duties under the supervision of a direct manager or tenured staff. Duties may include, but are not limited to, data entry, analysis, researching, and reporting.
- Assist in implementing and administering department projects and programs designed to develop professional skills and expertise appropriate to the needs of the organization. Collaborate with other departments on cross-functional projects and initiatives.
- Interact directly with company employees, customers, and/or other internal and external customers.
- Receive guidance, training, and mentoring from company employees in planning and carrying out activities and assignments. Shadow team members and departments to observe workflows, tools, and best practices while gaining a broader understanding of the organization’s structure and operations.
- Attend and participate in meetings, workshops, and/or training sessions. Take notes and assist with follow-up on action items as needed.
- Keep immediate supervisor and designated others accurately informed concerning work progress.
- Maintain accurate and well-ordered documentation to ensure company and legal compliance standards are met. Follow company policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
- Identify innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities and address challenges in assigned areas of responsibility. Provide fresh perspectives and input on ongoing projects or problem-solving efforts.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Completed or in-progress Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Any combination of education, training, or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will be accepted in place of the education and/or experience requirements listed for this role.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Regularly required to see, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision.
- Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet.
- This position operates in a professional office environment.
- This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.
DRESS CODE:
- All employees are expected to wear clothing appropriate for the nature of OrePac business and the type of work being performed. Clothing should be neat, clean, and tasteful.
SAFETY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Report all incidents and accidents to one’s immediate supervisor immediately or within 24 hours.
- Maintain the work area in a safe and healthful condition.
- Report, and whenever possible correct, unsafe working conditions to branch leadership.
- Operate vehicles while in the course of employment in a safe and lawful manner.
- Provide assistance to reduce or eliminate workplace hazards.
- Comply with company drug testing policies and procedures.
- Comply with company Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies. OrePac will provide required PPE to employees.
