About the Role

About ALKU

ALKU is a specialized staffing and consulting firm placing senior-level consultants across Technology, Healthcare IT, Life Sciences, and Government, with a dedicated Healthcare IT (HCIT) practice that solves complex implementation challenges for healthcare organizations. Guided by our People First, Quality Always philosophy, we foster an energetic, inclusive culture where treating our own people well translates into better outcomes for every client and candidate we serve.

Position Overview

The HCIT Program Coordinator Intern will be embedded within ALKU’s Healthcare IT practice, supporting day-to-day program operations across Commercial and/or Federal client engagements. This role is designed for a motivated, detail-oriented student or recent graduate who wants hands-on exposure to real-world project management, Healthcare IT consulting, and business operations inside a fast-moving professional services environment.

Compensation

$18 per hour

Key Responsibilities

Program Control

  •  Hours Tracking (Forecast vs. Actual): Support weekly tracking of consultant hours against forecasted allocations, flag variances, and help maintain accurate project-level reporting for Commercial and Federal engagements.
  •  Expense Management: Assist with collecting, tracking, and reconciling project-related expenses, ensuring timely submission and compliance with client and ALKU billing requirements.

Team Member Onboarding

  •  New Consultant Onboarding: Coordinate and execute onboarding activities for incoming team members, including drafting welcome emails, managing onboarding checklists, coordinating system access, and sending allocation communications to relevant stakeholders.

Meeting Coordination and Support

  •  Scheduling and Facilitation: Assist with identifying and coordinating meeting times across internal teams and client stakeholders. Provide light facilitation support and capture meeting minutes, action items, and key decisions to ensure follow-through and accountability.

What You’ll Gain

This internship is more than a line on your resume. You’ll join an energetic and engaged team and walk away with skills, perspective, and relationships that will serve you well beyond the internship itself:

  •  Project Management Exposure: Work directly alongside experienced program managers and see how complex, multi-stakeholder Healthcare IT engagements are planned, tracked, and delivered. You’ll build transferable PM skills — scheduling, documentation, risk awareness — applicable across any industry.
  •  Healthcare IT Industry Insight: Gain real-world exposure to Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementations, Oracle Health solutions, and the business of healthcare technology consulting — a rapidly growing and high-impact sector.
  •  Business Operations Skills: Develop hands-on competency in financial tracking, resource coordination, and operational workflows that underpin how professional services firms deliver value to clients.
  •  Lasting Relationships: Build genuine connections with ALKU’s leadership team, consultants, and client partners — relationships grounded in shared work that will follow you throughout your career.

Who We’re Looking For

  •  Current student or recent graduate in Business, Healthcare Administration, Health Informatics, Public Health, or a related field
  •  Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  •  Comfortable with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Teams); experience with project tracking tools is a plus
  •  Clear communicator— written and verbal — with a professional, team-first mindset
  •  Genuinely curious about healthcare technology and how IT-enabled solutions improve patient care delivery
