About the Role

Job Summary:

The property and grounds team at Lakeside Companies is seeking a Landscape Maintenance Technician Intern for a 90-day engagement. We take pride in the visual excellence of every acre we manage. As a Landscape Maintenance Technician, you will be the front-line of that commitment.

This is an entry-level position with on-the-job training. No prior professional experience is required; we’re looking for reliable, hardworking individuals who take pride in their work and want to build a career in turf management.

Community & Common Area Landscapes

  • Mow, edge, and trim common area lawns, medians, entry features, and community green spaces
  • Maintain planting beds: hand-weeding, mulching, deadheading, and light pruning of shrubs and ornamentals
  • Monitor and report irrigation issues, broken heads, or dry spots in community areas
  • Perform litter patrol, debris removal, and general tidiness of all community-facing properties
  • Support seasonal color rotations and planting installations as directed

Event & Venue Grounds

  • Prepare outdoor event spaces including lawn setup, path clearing, and decorative bed grooming prior to events
  • Perform post-event cleanup of grounds including removal of debris, temporary fixtures, and restoration of turf
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of outdoor furniture, signage staging areas, and directional markers
  • Maintain a consistently presentation-ready appearance of all guest-facing outdoor areas

Equipment & Facilities

  • Operate and maintain grounds equipment including riding mowers, walk-behind mowers, string trimmers, blowers, and hand tools
  • Perform basic daily and pre-operation equipment checks (fluid levels, blade condition, tire pressure)
  • Report equipment malfunctions, damage, or maintenance needs to the supervisor immediately
  • Keep equipment storage areas, tool rooms, and the maintenance facility clean and organized
  • Follow all equipment operating procedures and safety protocols at all times

General Duties

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly worksite at all times
  • Communicate proactively with the supervisor regarding task progress, obstacles, or safety concerns
  • Represent the company professionally when working in view of guests, residents, or the public
  • Adapt to shifting daily priorities based on weather, events, or company needs
  • Perform other grounds and maintenance tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to operate small equipment and hand tools safely
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions including heat, cold, and humidity
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and perform sustained physical labor throughout the shift
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality — early morning start times are common
  • A genuine eye for detail and personal pride in the quality of finished work
