GENERAL STATEMENT
The Student Photographer will work within 22 West Media to take and publish photographs for all 22 West publications including, but not limited to documenting events, design projects, department campaigns. Assignments may include but are not limited to obtaining equipment; setting up and testing equipment; assisting in prop, set production and set up; photographing sports, events or subjects; developing film and/or digital still photography and image processing; maintaining files on visual materials; performing basic shoots or assisting in more complex shoots. Photography work may be involved in the preproduction or production phase of communication or multimedia projects and may be used in a variety of visual and multimedia products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintains project logs and archiving system back up for all photos.
- Obtains photo release consents and maintain files.
- Capture high-quality photographic images for 22 West Media or ASI projects, including on- and off-campus events (e.g., campus programs, sports games, and student organization activities). Ability to travel locally for assignments and transport photography equipment to event locations as needed.
- Ability to set up and perform both still picture photography, taking interior and exterior photographs using color or black and white film or digital still photography equipment.
- Design and manipulate images using digital tools, produce final image assets, and maintain photographic equipment.
- Represent ASI and 22 West Media at both off campus and campus-wide community events while taking photographs.
- Recruit, train, and delegate tasks to volunteers supporting photo assignments.
- Attend all staff meetings as required.
- Participate in information tables and events as requested.
- Other duties as assigned, reasonably within the scope of the job.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
A minimum of one year of photography experience. Previous volunteer experience with 22 West Media preferred. Must be a current and active CSULB student enrolled in a minimum of 6 units.
Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to work effectively in a team environment while also operating independently with minimal supervision; interpret and follow procedural manuals, instructions, and diagrams; travel to off-campus events as needed; working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop; and strong customer service skills.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations
Current California Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record as determined by ASI.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Schedule
This position is a temporary, one academic-year appointment aligned with the CSULB academic calendar. The work schedule generally follows standard business hours. Scheduled hours may fluctuate depending on departmental needs. Occasional evening and weekend support is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit at a desk or computer workstation and use hands and fingers to key data, sort documents, and file paperwork. The employee is frequently required to stand and be able to talk or hear in interactions with others. The employee is occasionally required to walk to other offices within the building and around the campus. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
