About the Role

Air Liquide Laboratories is one of the main R&D centers of the Air Liquide group. Its goal is to develop new and innovative solutions for the entire Air Liquide group. Air Liquide Laboratories is located at Innovation Campus Tokyo, inaugurated in March 2019. The new facility promotes collaboration with customers, start-up companies and academic partners. It gathers researchers and workers from all around the world in order to promote a multicultural work environment and skills diversity. The Campus develops the latest thin film deposition and etching technologies for applications in electronics, batteries and fuel cells, as well as strategies and solutions for the entire supply chain, production, purification, storage, transportation and distribution of low carbon hydrogen.

Main task will be the evaluation of new potential molecules for the thin-film deposition (ALD/CVD) for semiconductor, energy applications (Li-ion battery, solid state battery, fuel cell...), performance coating applications (optics, display…), and its characterizations (see also https://electronics.airliquide.com/).

Additionally, the role involves extensive hands-on work with the deposition systems, including calibration, optimization, as well as hardware tasks such as the construction or modification of the ALD/CVD tools.

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

Tasks and responsibilities (Tasks would include but are not limited to the following)

  • Thin film deposition process (CVD/ALD) development using defined compounds 

  • Analysis of thin film by Ellipsometry, XPS, AFM, FTIR, etc.

  • Learn, implement and document experimental work

  • Regularly communicate the progress of experimental works to supervisors

  • Present and report the results of completed projects

  • Meet or exceed Air Liquide Laboratories safety objectives

  • Communicate in English to work in an English speaking environment.

Are you a MATCH?

Required qualifications :

  • Master’s or Ph.D. student, specialization in Material, Electrical or Chemical Engineering 

  • Proficiency of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint),  Google workspace, or equivalent 

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively

  • Ability to report and present information in a clear and concise manner 

  • Ability to work in a team in a multicultural environment

  • Well-organized, self-motivated.
