Climate, Economics & Finance (CEF) Program at WRI India

Job Highlight
We are looking for a highly motivated Intern – Clean Growth, Transition, Green Skills and Jobs to support our ongoing efforts in research and implementation of green skilling initiatives. This role is ideal for an individual with a keen interest in labor markets, vocational training, clean growth processes and sustainability-driven economic transitions. You will work closely with policymakers, industry leaders, academic institutions, and grassroots organizations to develop and scale skilling programs that create meaningful employment opportunities in the green economy.
What you will do:
- Support research and analysis on clean growth, just transition, green jobs, workforce transition, and skilling frameworks across sectors such as renewable energy, automotive, textile etc.
- Assist in compiling data, literature review, and case studies related to just transition initiatives (including skilling and green jobs) and policies from India and internationally.
- Contribute in development of innovative skilling models by providing research inputs and documentation support.
- Support stakeholder mapping and assist in coordination with government agencies, industry bodies, and other relevant agencies.
- Help prepare reports, presentations, policy briefs and knowledge materials independently with guidance from the team.
- Document learnings, best practices, and insights from ongoing projects and discussions.
What you will need:
Education & Experience
- Pursuing or completed Master’s degree in Public Policy, Economics, Management, Environmental Studies, Labour Economics, Education, or a related field.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to synthesise information from multiple sources.
- Basic understanding of labour market, skilling ecosystems, or sustainability (coursework / project experience acceptable).
- Familiarity with data collection and basic analysis using Excel or similar tools.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to support reports and presentations development.
- Interest in public policy, skill development, and low-carbon transitions.
What Will You Learn?
· Gain hands on exposure to the just transition and skilling for low-carbon transition ecosystem in India.
· Understand how public policy, industry, and skilling systems interact to shape workforce transitions.
· Develop practical skills in research, data analysis, and policy review within a real-world project environment.
· Build experience in stakeholder engagement, including working with government agencies and industries.
· Develop workplace skills such as structured thinking, communication, and project management/coordination.
Stipend: ₹25,000/month
Location: New Delhi / Bengaluru / Mumbai
Duration: 3 months (extendable up to 6 months)
