Cordys Analytics is a fast-growing medtech start-up and spin-out from UMC Utrecht.
We develop GALVO, a full-spectrum AI-powered cardiology platform that helps healthcare professionals deliver faster, more accurate and more scalable cardiac diagnostics. GALVO supports multiple diagnostic workflows, including resting ECG analysis, Holter monitoring and future applications in remote cardiac monitoring and wearable devices.
Our mission is to improve cardiovascular care by combining artificial intelligence with clinical expertise, enabling earlier diagnosis, better patient outcomes and more efficient healthcare delivery.
As our Holter Operations continue to grow rapidly across Europe, we are looking for an analytical and hands-on intern or graduate student to help us further professionalise, optimise and scale this critical part of our business.
The assignmentHolter Operations form one of the core services delivered through the GALVO platform in Europe. Holter recordings are received, analysed by trained ECG analysts supported by AI, reviewed through quality control, and returned to healthcare providers as high-quality clinical reports.
As volumes continue to grow, we want to manage this operation in an increasingly systematic and data-driven way. To support this, we have developed a Holter Operations Management System: a practical scorecard and capacity management framework that enables us to manage demand, capacity, quality, productivity and financial performance on a weekly basis.
As an intern, you will help further develop, validate and expand this management system, both qualitatively and quantitatively. Rather than writing a report that ends up on a shelf, you will contribute to a management tool that is actively used during our weekly Holter Operations meetings and directly supports operational decision-making.
Research questionThe main research question for this internship or graduation project is:
How can Cordys Analytics design, measure and manage its Holter Operations so that capacity, quality, turnaround time and profitability remain under control as volumes grow rapidly?
Possible sub-questions include:
- How can forecast Holter demand be translated into the required analysis and QC capacity?
- Which KPIs are needed to manage capacity, quality, productivity and financial performance on a weekly basis?
- How can analyst recruitment, onboarding and training be incorporated into capacity planning?
- Which operational buffers are required to prevent backlog growth and turnaround time deterioration?
- How can a practical scorecard be designed that genuinely supports weekly operational decision-making?
You will contribute to a practical management system for a rapidly growing healthcare operation. Typical activities include:
- Mapping the end-to-end Holter Operations process, from intake and analysis to QC, reporting and customer delivery.
- Expanding and improving our capacity planning model, linking forecast demand to available analysis and QC capacity.
- Translating Holter volumes into required productive analyst and QC hours.
- Defining and refining operational KPIs.
- Developing and improving the operational scorecard in Excel, Google Sheets or Power BI.
- CreatingKPI passports containing clear KPI definitions, formulas, data sources, owners and performance thresholds.
- Analysing forecast accuracy, productivity, trainee ramp-up and seasonal effects such as holidays and examination periods.
- Designing a simple recruitment and capacity pipeline for student ECG analysts, from candidate sourcing to independent productive capacity.
- Translating operational data into practical management decisions: where capacity shortages will occur, which actions are required, and when they should be taken.
This internship is an excellent fit for students in, for example:
- Industrial Engineering
- Operations Management
- Business Analytics
- Applied Data Science
- Business Administration with a strong analytical focus
To be eligible, you:
- Are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's programme at a Dutch university or university of applied sciences (HBO).

- Enjoy collaborating with colleagues from Operations, Finance, Quality and Product.
- Can structure complex information clearly and communicate your findings effectively.
- Have an interest in healthcare, medtech, operations management or AI applications in healthcare.
During this internship, you will work on one of the key scalability challenges of a fast-growing medtech company. You will gain hands-on experience in:
- Designing and implementing an operational management system.
- Capacity planning for a rapidly growing healthcare service operation.
- Defining KPIs that support real management decisions.
- Understanding how quality, capacity, turnaround time and financial performance are interconnected.
- Developing a practical scorecard that is actively used by an operational team.
- Applying operations management, data analytics and AI in a real-world healthcare environment.
You will work closely with the management team and take significant responsibility for developing a management system that will continue to be used long after your internship has ended.
