About The Company
Synapxe is the national HealthTech agency inspiring tomorrow’s health. The nexus of HealthTech, we connect people and systems to power a healthier Singapore. Together with partners, we create intelligent technological solutions to improve the health of millions of people every day, everywhere. Reimagine the future of health together with us at www.synapxe.sg
About the Role

Join Synapxe as an intern and see how you can contribute in powering a healthier Singapore. Internship@Synapxe is where curiosity meets impact! You would be able to gain practical experience, hone your skills, and be part of meaningful work that improves health through technology!

The intern will join the Cloud team and focuses on core network security devices and their operational roles in a data centre environment. The intern will work with the operations and engineering teams to identify repetitive operational tasks, design reliable automation solutions, and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines to improve efficiency, consistency, and auditability while reducing manual effort and operational risk.

The selected intern(s) will assist in following:

  • Automate BAU workflows: Analyse common Data Center network and security requests—such as firewall rule changes, VLAN provisioning, access control updates, and device configuration changes - and translate them into automated playbooks, scripts, and templates
  • Develop Ansible playbooks and roles: Build reusable, idempotent Ansible playbooks and roles that can safely apply configuration changes across network and security devices (switches, firewalls, routers, load balancers) while validating outcomes
  • Scripting and tooling with Python: Implement automation logic, data-processing utilities, API clients, and validation/parse routines in Python to support integrations with network devices, security platforms, and orchestration tools
  • Templating and configuration generation: Create and maintain configuration templates (Jinja2 or similar) that generate device-specific configs from structured inputs, ensuring consistency and reducing human error.
  • CI/CD pipeline integration: Integrate automation artifacts into GitLab CI/CD pipelines to provide controlled, auditable, and repeatable deployment workflows. Implement stages for linting, testing, dry-run/validation, and controlled rollout
  • Testing and validation: Design and run unit and integration tests for automation code, and create validation checks (syntax, config compliance, simulation/dry-run) to reduce the chance of disruptive changes
  • Documentation and runbooks: Produce clear documentation, operational runbooks, and usage examples for the automation tools and pipelines so on-call teams and peers can reuse and maintain them
  • Collaboration and knowledge sharing: Work closely with network engineers, security engineers, and DevOps practitioners to gather requirements, review designs, and incorporate feedback. Participate in team meetings, code reviews, and knowledge-transfer sessions
  • Monitoring and auditability: Implement logging, change-tracking, and reporting mechanisms within automation processes to improve traceability and support post-change audits and troubleshooting

About You:

  • Undergraduate currently in Year 2 or Year 3, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Business Artificial Intelligence Systems, Information Engineering & Media, or a related discipline
  • Basic understanding of networking and network security concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls, ACLs, segmentation)
  • Proficiency in Python scripting and problem-solving
  • Familiarity with automation and DevOps tools such as Ansible, Git/GitLab, and CI/CD practices
  • Understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and Network-as-Code principles
  • Exposure to templating and web technologies, including Jinja2 and basic HTML
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication, documentation, and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Passionate and keen to make a difference to re-imagine the future of HealthTech
