What’s in it for you:
Trane Technologies is proud to partner with the DoD SkillBridge program to provide transitioning service members with the opportunity to gain hands-on civilian HVAC experience during their final 180 days of military service while continuing to receive military pay and benefits. Through this unpaid internship, participants work alongside experienced Trane technicians and leaders to build skills in the commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, repair, and service of HVAC systems across a diverse commercial customer base, including healthcare, process manufacturing, educational institutions, and office complexes. This program is designed to help translate military experience into commercial HVAC career readiness and create a pathway to future opportunities in the industry.

What you will do:

  • Work with experienced leaders and technicians throughout the internship.

  • Train in the field on HVAC systems installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and service.

  • Learn HVAC fundamentals, schematics, safety, and daily technician responsibilities.

  • Complete more than 90 hours of online HVAC training to build your knowledge.

  • Complete virtual training and EPA 608 exam preparation to earn your EPA 608 certification.

  • Use cutting edge software and technology, along with a variety of hand-tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair units.

  • Continually enforce safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets by recording use, wear and conditions.

  • Display team effort and dedication to customers by maintaining flexibility to work overtime and weeks as the business requires, including occasional overnight stays.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Current military member with command approval for SkillBridge participation required.

  • Relevant experience in a technical, mechanical, or skilled trade field is preferred.

  • Ability to follow safety procedures, training requirements, and company standards.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well with technicians, leaders, and customers.

  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and working proficiency with hand-held computer (i.e. Smartphone and iPad).

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: 

    • DUI in the previous 3 years

    • Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years
