About the Role

Role Overview:

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic intern who is eager to learn about our company and working at Maintenance Department, Malaysian Refining Company Sdn. Bhd. (MRCSB). The intern will work closely with the Technical Professional & Head Discipline (TPHD) for Plant 1 (Electrical) to support strategic and operational initiatives within the Generation, Distribution, Protection & Control domain. This role offers a comprehensive learning experience in electrical governance, system reliability, and technical documentation, while contributing to high-impact engineering projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technical Documentation & Presentation Support 
    • Assist TPHD in compiling project papers, reports, and presentation materials related to electrical systems and initiatives.
  2. Briefing Material Development 
    • Support the creation of technical briefings on Protection & Control systems and equipment across MRCSB.
  3. Meeting Support 
    • Serve as the Minutes of Meeting (MoM) scribe for sessions led by TPHD.
  4. Electrical Governance & Compliance 
    • Help ensure adherence to statutory requirements and safety standards in electrical operations.
  5. Knowledge Tools Development 
    • Contribute to the creation of mind maps, databases, and pocket guides for Protection Relay & Control systems.
  6. MARS Initiative Support 
    • Assist in implementing the MOV Availability Reliability & Strategy (MARS) program.
  7. Project Facilitation 
    • Drive and support various engineering projects and activities as directed by TPHD.
  8. Audit Participation 
    • Aid in conducting UAUC audits, Substation Audit and Electrical Safety Management audits.
  9. Technical Investigations & RCA 
    • Support After-Incident Reviews and Root Cause Failure Analysis using 5 Why and Tripod Beta methodologies.
  10. Advanced Troubleshooting (ATS) 
    • Contribute to complex troubleshooting efforts for electrical systems.
  11. Data Analysis for Reliability & Performance 
    • Analyze system and equipment data to enhance reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
  12. Project Execution Support 
    • Assist in executing key projects such as MOV Master Station Replacement and Replacement Modular AC UPS (RMAU).
  13. Dashboard Development 
    • Analyze data from MOV Master Station and develop performance dashboards using Power BI.
  14. Engineer Upskilling Support 
    • Help TPHD in training engineers on network basics, protection relay calibration, earthing, bonding, and lightning protection systems.
  15. Failure Distribution Modeling 
    • Assist in developing failure distribution models for motors, MOVs, and electrical heat tracing systems, and visualize them using Power BI.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong interest in protection systems, electrical safety, and data analytics.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, technical documentation, and root cause analysis methods.
  • Good communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
