Job Summary: We are seeking a talented and motivated Controls Engineer co-op to join our team. This role involves helping the Controls Engineering team with PLC programming, HMI customization, software testing, and supporting our service team with product issues and inquiries. You will also help to create and maintain manufacturing and service documents, assist with product application inquiries, ensure quality control, and commission and test a wide range of custom cooling solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist with the development of technical solutions to meet client needs.
· Assist with the design of program logic control systems for functions such as sequence, temperature, pressure, flow, voltage, current, and timing.
· Assist with product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and specifications.
· Participate in the engineering of current, redesigned, or new products.
· Assist with preparation of necessary documentation to support controls design and communication of logic.
· Collaborate with the service and quality teams to resolve technical customer issues.
· Assist with the creation and execution of test plans for controls software and systems, and perform lab development and validation testing.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Software Engineering preferred.
- 0 years of related experience required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Effective communication across functional and organizational boundaries.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, demonstrating ingenuity and creativity.
- Ability to exercise judgment to determine appropriate action.
- Ability to work independently and influence others.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and resolve challenges in a technology-driven organization.
- Desire to learn technical knowledge and skills, including:
- PLC programming using function blocks and ladder logic.
- Knowledge of P&ID’s and control of cooling systems.
- Knowledge of specifications, codes, and standards used in the commercial HVAC industry (NEC, IEC, UL, ETL, NFPA, etc.).
- Software/Controls aptitude with the ability to generate prototype designs.
- Ability to test and debug systems.
- Ability to patch code in order to resolve customer issues.
- Physical Requirements:
- Office environment with minimal lifting of thirty pounds or less.
- May require navigating stairs and maneuvering through the plant environment for guided tours.

For this U.S. based position, the expected pay range is USD $22.50-$27.00 per hour. The compensation range for the full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our pay ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the pay range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
