About The Company
BPGbio is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing mitochondrial-targeted therapies for patients. The company’s approach is grounded in advancing therapeutics that restore cellular energy regulation and address mitochondrial dysfunction, a central driver of disease across multiple high-burden indications. BPGbio’s lead clinical candidate, BPM31510, is a potential first-in-class mitochondrial metabolic modulator currently in clinical development for Primary CoQ10 Deficiency (PCQD) and Glioblastoma. The asset has also completed a phase I trial in Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). The company is currently exploring the potential of BPM31510 in small cell carcinoma (SCC), pancreatic cancers, and sarcopenia.
About the Role

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lipidomics Intern will support lipidomics research by applying foundational knowledge of analytical chemistry, chromatography, and mass spectrometry. The intern will assist with targeted and nontargeted LC-MS-based analyses, data review, and interpretation to support ongoing platform and research activities. Prior hands-on sample preparation experience is not required, but familiarity with the principles of lipidomics analysis and bioanalytical workflows is expected.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for lipidomic analyses as a member of the team including the following:
  • Perform, analyze and report experiments.
  • Perform mass spectrometry-based assays and studies focused on lipid analysis of diverse samples including biological matrices.
  • Routine maintenance of laboratory instrumentation.
  • Daily QA/QC, system suitability testing.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires a B.S. in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or a related field in the analysis of small molecules or metabolites.
  • Broad understanding of metabolomics/lipidomics applications and biochemistry in the areas of systems biology, neurodegeneration, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and cancer is a plus.
  • Understanding of common sample preparation techniques, including solid phase extraction (SPE), liquid-liquid extraction and protein precipitation for biofluids, tissues and cells.
  • Understanding of core HPLC and MS concepts, including principles of reversed-phase LC and HILIC, high-resolution/accurate mass strategies, structural elucidation by MS/MS, isotope dilution, multiply-charged ions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills combined with a proven track record of technical and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment and demonstrate attention to detail and record-keeping. Must demonstrate fully professional level requiring independent work in metabolomics research and development.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
