About the Role

Company Description

Zayo Europe’s journey has been guided by an aspirational vision for connectivity. Our founders were veterans of the companies that constructed the earliest backbone of the Internet. They understood that truly putting “the world” on the World Wide Web would require connections, lots of them. Zayo formed in 2007 with Zayo Europe becoming a standalone company in 2024. We are now a market leader in operating and managing fibre networks.

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and tech-savvy intern to join the Zayo Europe Finance team during an exciting period of transformation. This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you will play a key part in modernising our operations.

Your objectives will span across two critical areas: supporting a key data clean-up project and driving process improvement and automation across our core financial functions (including Billing, Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), Treasury Operations, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Business Intelligence (BI).

It is a fantastic opportunity to gain broad exposure to corporate finance operations and data strategy in a real business environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Process Mapping & Automation: Reviewing and documenting current manual tasks and workflows across Finance Operations. You will assist the team in identifying bottlenecks and building automated solutions (e.g., using advanced Excel, Power Query, or similar tools) to streamline repetitive tasks.

  • Data Clean-up & System Preparation: Reviewing, categorising, cleansing, and standardising historical financial data to create a clean, consistent foundation for new system implementation and enhanced BI reporting. This work will ensure data accuracy and integrity while supporting compliance with increasingly stringent country-specific e-Invoicing requirements across the business.

  • Data Quality & Validation: Identifying and flagging data gaps, running validation checks across multiple finance functions, and ensuring automated processes operate accurately.

  • Documentation: Maintaining organised records and creating clear user guides and audit trails for newly implemented automated processes.

  • Ad-hoc Cross-Functional Support: Collaborating with the broader Finance team to support queries and handle administrative tasks where needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • A student or recent graduate interested in Finance.

  • Strong technical aptitude, with solid Excel skills (coding experience is a strong plus) and confidence working with large, complex datasets.

  • A problem-solving mindset with the ability to look at a manual process and ask, "How can we do this better?"

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Highly organised, with a proactive attitude and a willingness to learn across different financial disciplines.

What You’ll Gain

  • Hands-on experience in the preparation stage of a major finance transformation project.

  • End-to-end exposure to core financial operations.

  • Insight into how large businesses structure their data and automate workflows.

  • Development of highly sought-after skills in data analysis, financial accuracy, and process automation.

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.

The posting will be active for a minimum of 3 days. The active posting will continue to extend by 3 days until the position is filled.
