AECOM’s Water Infrastructure group delivers critical projects across water and wastewater treatment, dams, conveyance systems, industrial water, asset management, civil infrastructure, and more. As a Water Engineering Intern, you’ll gain exposure to all phases of project delivery, from design to construction support, while learning from some of the industry’s best.

How you’ll make a difference:

• Support the design and planning of water and wastewater infrastructure (typically pipelines, pump stations, and treatment plants) by helping with calculations, drafting inputs, and documentation under guidance.
• Collaborate with experienced engineers and multidisciplinary project teams, helping to coordinate tasks and contribute to integrated solutions.
• Assist in preparing technical reports, drawings, specifications, and design documentation, including compiling data, preparing figures, and drafting sections for review.
• Help with tendering activities, site inspections, and construction-phase services by organizing information, taking notes, and preparing follow-up actions as directed.
• Work closely with clients and stakeholders by supporting meetings, preparing presentation materials, and helping with responses to queries to deliver impactful water infrastructure outcomes.

• Summer Intern attributes: Interns who are curious and excited to apply their studies in a professional environment. You'll bring strong communication and teamwork skills, a positive and proactive attitude, adaptability, and a commitment to professionalism and integrity. 
• Bachelor’s Degree: You must be in your penultimate year of a Bachelor's or Postgraduate degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering. 
• Commencement: Able to work full time hours from mid November 2026 – mid February 2027. Potential to continue on a part time basis after the summer internship, during your final year of study, depending on project needs.
• Working Rights: You must have full working rights to work in Australia before applying. We do accept candidates with student and graduate visas.
