The Position:

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager and supporting the HSE Specialists, the Health, Safety and Environment Co-op is responsible for supporting implementation and execution of HSE programs and initiatives for Cambridge, Ontario facilities. They will assist in maintaining the Eclipse HSE program and ensure compliance with legislated requirements, internal standards, and delivery of new policies and programs. The Health, Safety and Environment Co-op will contribute to training, inspections/auditing, and program implementation, to deliver our Eclipse Vision and Entrepreneurial Culture. 

What You’ll Be Doing:

 Health, Safety and Environment:
 
•    Support the implementation and maintenance of Eclipse’ HSE programs and communications
•    Act as a health and safety resource to employees, supervisors, projects, and department management teams
•    Conduct and support the completion of HSE risk assessments to identify key HSE risks and appropriate corrective actions
•    Support the Job Hazard Analysis process for project and department risk assessments and controls
•    Participate in safety inspections and audits to verify compliance and escalate issues as required
•    Participate with in-house ergonomic assessments and other HSE assessments as required
•    Maintain HSE signs, posters and communication boards
•    Maintain GHS Labelling for shop floor chemicals and WHMIS binders
•    Support Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) program requirements including Monthly Workplace Inspections, Quarterly/Monthly JHSC Meetings, and training for Committee Members.  
•    Obtain current knowledge of local HSE legislation and other applicable standards
•    Support internal and external Health and Safety training courses and maintain ongoing compliance with the training certification matrix
•    Procure health and safety supplies, PPE and services as required
•    Adhere to all Environment, Health and Safety rules and procedures

Project Execution:

•    Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
•    Ability to work in a manufacturing Shop Floor and Office team environment and actively participate in group meetings safely
•    Complete other duties and projects as assigned
•    Ensure scheduled milestones are met
•    Adhere to the Eclipse Project Operating Policy
•    Maintain good corporate citizen role in support of the Eclipse and Accenture Corporate Vision
•    Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Eclipse Automation and Accenture Code of Conduct
•    Foster the development of a culture reflective of the core values of the business

What We’re Looking For:

  • Candidate for a University degree or a College diploma/certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, or related fields
  • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations and standards in the local jurisdiction
  • Facility in machine, lifting equipment, and ergonomic risk assessments preferred  
  • Professional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required.  Functional abilities in English language (both written and spoken) is preferred.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and willingness to develop constructive relationships with management, project and departmental team members
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer skills
  • Expectation of travel to other locations within Cambridge.  Use of a vehicle is preferred.
