About the Role

Photo Lab Assistant, SC1PHOTOSPHOTO (FA26)
Student Worker Eligibility:
Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived.
If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 
Assist Photography Program.

  • Open lab and lighting studio.
  • Close lab and lighting studio.
  • Assist to and advise other photography students.
  • Mix and maintain Photography Chemicals.
  • Chemical replenishment.
  • Clean and make minor repairs.
  • Check out and accept returns of equipment.
  • Knowledge of Macintosh computers.
  • Assist with equipment organization.
  • Ability to lift up to 5 gallons of liquid.
  • This student position requires a pre-employment background at the expense of the College.

    • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • COD Student who has taken one or more studio art courses required.
      • THIS IS A STUDENT JOB.
      • High school diploma or equivalent.
      • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
      • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above.
      • If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived.
      • If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds.
      • Prefer a Photography Major who has taken Photo 1101 and 1102 preferred.
    • Experience
      • Knowledge of photo process; chemical, mechanical and digital required.
      • Knowledge of Macintosh computer operations and software required.
      • People skills required.
      • Chemical handling required.
    • Licenses and Certifications
      • COD Training
        • Hazardous Communications
        • Compliance Training

      Working Conditions:

    • Macintosh computer.

      • Pay Rate: Student Rate 1 - $15.00 per hour
