About the Role

GENERAL STATEMENT

The Student Video Producer is responsible for the visual documentation of 22 West TV productions. The Student Video Producer is accountable for coordinating all events and filming, as well as serving as a mentor to production assistants and interns which are student volunteers. The Student Video Producer is also responsible for creative development and script writing. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Creates concepts and follows projects from pre-production, filming, and post-production.   

2. Creates and organizes show formats, develops topics and ideas for the shows, delegates and supervises the set.   

3. Develops the scripts for projects to be filmed.   

4. Projects timelines and meeting deadlines for all aspects of the show.   

5. Attends weekly producers meeting, weekly volunteer meeting and bi-weekly staff meetings for the company.   

6. Completes and delivers the assigned projects, as directed, across all platforms.   

7. Works independently and as part of a team with other 22 West TV volunteers, interns and staff to accomplish tasks as delegated by the Student Executive Producer.   

8. Will be responsible for showing final media products at all events where needed to do so.   

9. Trains volunteers in the areas of production and editing.   

10. Other duties as assigned, reasonably within the scope of the job.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

A minimum of one year's job-related experience required. Previous volunteer experience with 22 West Media preferred. Must be a current and active CSULB student enrolled in a minimum of 6 units.

Knowledge and Abilities

Basic knowledge of camera, audio and lighting operations and functions. Computer literate, able to use programs: After Affects, Adobe Premiere, Media File Conversion, IDVD, Windows, Microsoft Word, and MAC troubleshooting. Some work with film cameras, career interest or background in film/TV or photography is advantageous. Exceptional customer skills are required. 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Schedule

This position is a temporary, one academic-year appointment aligned with the CSULB academic calendar. The work schedule generally follows standard business hours. Scheduled hours may fluctuate depending on departmental needs. Occasional evening and weekend support is required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Schedule: This position will be scheduled 10-20 hours a week and an all-staff orientation on August 18th is mandatory.
