About the Role

GENERAL STATEMENT

The Student Video Editor is responsible for working cooperatively with the Student Video Producers to assist in the visual presentation of 22 West TV shows and their completion. The Student Editor’s duties include editing, volunteer mentorship and project management.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Edits footage of allsignificant events, including 22 West TV shows, and other client projects.  
  1. Collaborates with 22 West TV staff (primarily Student Video Producer and Student Executive Producers) to plan and edit for release on website and online publication platforms. 
  1. Works closely with 22 West TV volunteers and semester interns, to train and mentor in all areas of editing and postproduction. 
  1. Must be able to project timelines and meet deadlines for all aspects of weekly shows and special projects.
  1. Prepare the department report for weekly meetings with 22 West Media Student Leads. 
  1. Work both independently and as part of a team alongside 22 West TV staff toaccomplishtasks as delegated by the Student Executive Producer.The Student Executive Producer willhave final approval over all editing work completed by the Editor. 
  1. Assistin the maintenance of mediaarchiveof all projects andestablishesan orderly, organized system for filing footage and all necessary b-roll on 22 West TV NASserverand external drives.
  1. Attends weekly 22 West TV meetings and is available toassistand create content with 22 West TVspecial eventsthroughout the semester. 
  1. Other duties as assigned,reasonably withinthe scope of the job.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

A minimum of one year of video production experience required. Cinematic Arts majors preferred. Previous volunteer experience with 22 West Media preferred. Must be a current and active CSULB student enrolled in a minimum of 6 units.


Knowledge and Abilities

Must be proficient in the following programs on Mac OS X: Final Cut Pro 7 or Final Cut Pro and or Adobe Premiere, iDVD, DVD Studio Pro, Cleaner, Quicktime (required) and After Effects . Must be proficient in the following programs on Windows: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Powerpoint. An understanding of video formats and organization is key. Basic knowledge of (or quick to learn) HD and SD camera equipment, including DSLRs, HD camcorders and MiniDV camcorders. Basic knowledge of (or quick to learn) audio recorders, such as the H4N Zoom Audio Recorder.


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Schedule

This position is a temporary, one academic-year appointment aligned with the CSULB academic calendar. The work schedule generally follows standard business hours. Scheduled hours may fluctuate depending on departmental needs. Occasional evening and weekend support is required.
