About the Role

The FinOps Intern supports the execution of job costing activities for Landside and Customs products, helping ensure that customer charges and supplier costs are reviewed, entered, and followed up according to operational and financial requirements.

This role contributes to the end-to-end financial process by supporting customer invoicing, supplier payment continuity, workflow resolution, and shipment-level profitability visibility. The position also supports FINOPS controls by helping identify recurring issues, process gaps, and improvement opportunities that contribute to operational efficiency and financial accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support job costing activities for assigned products, mainly Landside and Customs.
  • Review customer charges and supplier costs based on operational instructions and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor unbilled jobs and support the prioritization of items that may impact billing timeliness.
  • Process job costing requests through FINOPS SharePoint and related operational tools.
  • Support the validation of job information required for supplier billing and operational follow-up.
  • Review cost instructions from Operations and identify differences against costs entered in the system.
  • Support the follow-up and resolution of workflows related to supplier payments, cost differences, and posting issues.
  • Prepare and send required requests to GSC for posting or further processing.
  • Escalate blockers, delays, or inconsistencies that may impact job costing, billing, supplier payments, or closing activities.
  • Support profitability / CM1 visibility by reviewing shipment-level costs and revenues.
  • Participate in CM1 reviews, operational follow-ups, training sessions, and role-related meetings.
  • Provide visibility of open items impacting billing timeliness, billing accuracy, open costs, workflows, soft close, and hard close.
  • Contribute ideas for process improvement, automation, and efficiency generation within FINOPS activities.

Scope

The FinOps Intern supports the review and validation of financial information related to assigned jobs, ensuring that costs and revenues are aligned with operational instructions and available documentation.

The role is expected to identify inconsistencies, request clarifications, follow up on pending items, and escalate issues that may impact timely job costing, billing, supplier payments, or financial closing.

As the intern gains knowledge of the process, the position is expected to manage recurrent activities with increasing ownership, structure, and control.

The position also contributes to shipment-level profitability visibility and supports accrual-related activities during month-end closing processes.

Required Skills and Experience

  • University student or recent graduate in careers related to Logistics, Maritime and Port Operations, International Trade, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related fields.
  • Previous exposure or experience in billing, payments, collections, logistics, finance operations, accounting, or process improvement is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Understanding of financial, operational, or administrative processes is desirable.
  • Basic to intermediate Excel skills.
  • Interest in learning about job costing, invoicing, supplier payments, profitability, and financial controls.
  • Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and willingness to work with operational and financial data.
  • Ability to follow up on assigned activities, organize pending items, and manage recurrent tasks with increasing ownership.
  • Clear communication skills to interact with internal teams, request information, and escalate blockers when needed.
  • Business English proficiency is desirable.
  • Proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and interest in continuous improvement or automation initiatives.

Expected Contribution

The FinOps Intern is expected to support FINOPS by contributing to accurate and timely job costing execution, helping maintain billing and supplier payment continuity, and supporting visibility of financial metrics.

The role should help reduce operational rework, improve follow-up of pending items, and contribute to the stabilization of FINOPS processes across assigned products and countries.

As part of the internship experience, the position is expected to develop stronger understanding of FINOPS processes, build confidence in stakeholder interaction, and gradually take ownership of recurrent activities while contributing to process improvement opportunities.
