Who is an Eco Rep and what will my role provide?
Eco Reps are student leaders who support the Office of Sustainability's mission by promoting sustainable practices, engaging in the campus community, and contributing to sustainability programs and initiatives. This position provides hands-on experience in project management, communication, leadership, and problem-solving while supporting students to build valuable professional skills and advance sustainability efforts at SNHU.
Job Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Collect, organize, and maintain sustainability program data from online initiatives and engagement activities.
- Track participation, engagement, and learning outcomes related to sustainability programs for online students.
- Assist with creating surveys, forms, and assessment tools to gather feedback and measure program effectiveness.
- Analyze data and identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Develop dashboards, reports, infographics, and data visualizations that communicate program impact.
- Support the collection and analysis of data for annual sustainability reports and strategic planning initiatives.
- Research sustainability benchmarks, best practices, and emerging trends relevant to higher education and online engagement.
- Collaborate with other Eco Reps to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns, events, workshops, and educational programs.
- Present findings and recommendations to the Office of Sustainability staff and student teams.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of sustainability-related metrics and outcomes.
- Assist with measuring participation in sustainability challenges, online learning opportunities, and virtual engagement initiatives.
- Support data-informed decision-making by providing actionable insights and recommendations.
Online Engagement-Specific Responsibilities
- Monitor engagement metrics for online sustainability programming, newsletters, social media campaigns, webinars, and virtual events.
- Analyze participation patterns among online students to identify opportunities for increased engagement.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of virtual sustainability education initiatives and recommend improvements.
- Assist in developing metrics that capture the impact of sustainability programs on online learners.
- Support virtual focus groups, surveys, and feedback collection efforts.
Assessment & Reporting Responsibilities
- Compile monthly and semester impact reports.
- Track sustainability engagement goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Assist with data collection for STARS reporting and other institutional sustainability assessments.
- Create visual summaries and presentations that communicate results to campus stakeholders.
- Support the development of data-driven recommendations for future sustainability initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Current SNHU student in good standing.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Ability to organize information and maintain records consistently.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or similar spreadsheet software.
- Interest in sustainability, environmental initiatives, or social impact programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or experience in data analytics, statistics, mathematics, environmental science, sustainability, business analytics, computer science, or a related field.
- Experience using Excel functions, PivotTables, charts, or dashboards.
- Familiarity with survey platforms such as Microsoft Forms, Qualtrics, or Google Forms.
- Experience collecting, analyzing, or presenting data.
- Experience creating reports, visualizations, infographics, or presentations.
- Knowledge of sustainability metrics, environmental reporting, or assessment practices.
- Familiarity with STARS reporting
- Interest in translating data into recommendations and actionable insights.

Data Analytics Eco Rep Learning Goals
By the end of this position, the student will be able to:

- Collect, organize, and maintain sustainability-related data using established tracking systems and data management practices.
- Demonstrate an understanding of key sustainability metrics and reporting frameworks used in higher education.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency when managing sustainability records.

- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.

- Support the evaluation of sustainability initiatives through data collection, assessment, and outcome measurement.
- Recommend improvements based on analysis of participation, resource use, waste diversion, engagement, or other sustainability indicators.
- Contribute to annual reporting, performance tracking, and benchmarking efforts.
Technology & Digital Skills
- Develop proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, dashboards, survey tools, and other data management technologies.
- Utilize technology to improve efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility of sustainability information.
- Strengthen data literacy skills applicable across academic and professional environments.
Research & Strategic Planning
- Conduct research to support sustainability projects, reporting requirements, and program development.
- Compare institutional performance against benchmarks, best practices, and sustainability goals.
- Contribute data-informed recommendations that advance operational and engagement priorities.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
- Collaborate with Office of Sustainability staff, campus departments, and student leaders to meet data and reporting needs.
- Support campus stakeholders by providing accurate information that informs sustainability initiatives.
- Communicate findings professionally and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Learning Outcomes
Through this position, the Data Analytics Eco Rep will develop skills in data management, analysis, reporting, visualization, and assessment while supporting evidence-based decision-making and measuring the impact of sustainability initiatives across the SNHU community.
Work Schedule/Hours
10-15 hours a week
Attendance will be required every other week 1-5-2 hours
Hours are flexible given time changes with remote team/calls

Compensation
The hourly pay range for this position is $13.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.Prep Tools
