Position Summary:
WellPower's Vocational Trainee program provides experience to individuals who have a mental illness and who wish to learn a job or vocation. The goal of the program is to help individuals obtain work related skills and experiences that will lead to regular employment in the communities where they live.
Due to the large number of applicants, not every applicant will be selected for an interview or hired- selection is fit focused to meet program needs. If selected, each program provide 9-11 months of learning experiences meant to support preparation for competitive employment.

The posted range represents the full hiring range. Offers will not exceed this range, the majority of candidates are placed near the midpoint based on experience and qualifications.
Job Duties & Functions:
- Greeting PWS and providing friendly & professional customer service by offering help, engaging in brief conversations, and thanking them for their visit.
- Receive donations arriving at the back door as needed.
- Assist with directing PWS on how to check in at the Shopette.
- Provide answers to various questions from people we serve and/or direct them towards the best person who can provide an answer.
- Follow directions provided by supervisor when completing tasks.
- Stock shelves by organizing items, facing products, and keeping items easy to reach.
- Maintain a clean work environment by wiping surfaces, dusting, and keeping isles clear.
- Help customers find and locate items, as well as answering any questions regarding to products.
- Support checkout by bagging items carefully and keeping the register neat and orderly.
- Report low stock, damaged, or misplaced inventory to supervisor.
- Assist in other departments such as warehouse and inventory as needed.
- Restock clothing racks up to twice a day to keep items full, neat, and easy to shop.
- Abide by all safety rules within the store and warehouse.
- Maintain a trauma informed environment of wellbeing, and support creating a safe and respectful environment.

1. Develop professional and empathetic communication skills
A. Gain tools to remain calm and respond during a “crisis” (a situation is escalating; a person is upset or there is a medical emergency etc.)
B. Gain confidence in communicating challenges and ideas to co-workers, supervisors, and managers
C. Communicate tardiness and absences in a timely manner to front desk and direct supervisor
D. Communicate with fellow coworkers & supervisors in a professional and mindful manner.
2. Maintain sense of safety for one’s self and others
A. Communicate needs of safety to fellow coworkers and supervisors and address safety concerns immediately
B. Communicate and alert Supervisor of any falls, slips, injuries or messes that may need to be cleaned up.
3. Uphold and communicate ethical standards of practice
A. Conduct honest processing and storage of products
B. Provide consistent and fair distribution (placement) of products and shopping opportunity for all community members
C. Enjoy personal shopping during allocated time blocks for vocational employees
D. Communicate any unethical behaviors to direct supervisor or manager
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Actively enrolled in and receiving services by WellPower.
Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally heavier loads with assistance.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, sometimes in confined spaces or at heights. Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures is common.
