About The Company
The Savannah River National Laboratory is a U.S. Department of Energy - Office of Environmental Management multidiscipline research and development laboratory, where accomplished scientists and engineers solve the nation’s most challenging environmental and security problems.
About the Role

Savannah River National Laboratory has an opening for a law student who has successfully completed their second year of law school to serve as a Law Clerk at the Office of General Counsel (OGC) during the summer 2027.

The SRNL OGC is comprised of experienced attorneys and legal professionals, who represent the Laboratory across a wide spectrum of practice areas. The SRNL OGC advises on legal aspects of the Laboratory’s research and development mission. This includes supporting requests of SRNL executives, researchers, engineers, and other staff in resolving legal issues and risks.  You can anticipate assignments in any of the substantive areas relevant to operation of the Laboratory: e.g., litigation; business transactions; environmental, health and safety; government contracts; patent prosecution and intellectual property; export law; employment law; and more.

You will be part of a cohort of graduate and undergraduate students from all over the United States who spend the summer experiencing SRNL’s world-class scientific facilities and participating in research with the Laboratory’s accomplished scientists and engineers.  The summer program provides all interns the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of scientific and national-security mission orientations and other activities.

This position is full-time and paid, for up to 12 weeks during the summer of 2027.

When you arrive at SRNL, you will be assigned a mentor to help you acclimate to the program. You will have an opportunity to meet with the General Counsel and/or Associate General Counsels to discuss expectations. During your tenure, you will attend various introductory trainings and seminars that will outline the inner workings of SRNL.
