Direct Operational Purchasing Intern

Job Description:

Huntsman Corporation is now looking for a dynamic individual as a Direct Operational Purchasing Intern. The role focuses on learning the operational procurement role to a proficiency level allowing for dynamic coverage of tasks as well as engaging in a variety of projects, activities, trainings, and networking events.

This position will be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

As a Direct Operational Purchasing Intern you will: 

Support and coordinate on team or cross-department projects by communicating with internal stakeholders and engaging with suppliers, gathering and organizing data, analyzing data to determine correct actions, developing tools and approach to reach the end goal

Support on daily procurement operations tasks including monitoring reporting, creating purchase orders, processing order confirmations, troubleshooting issues, resolving blocked invoices, maintaining master data, and supporting team, strategic sourcing, and site needs

Provide team coverage when needed due to vacations, out of office time, or to manage higher levels of work volume

Participate in broader internship program by networking with other department’s interns to share experiences, represent internship program to leadership with presentations, participate in specialized training, engage in recruitment or public relation events.

Engage in volunteering, site, and community activities

What skills and experiences are we looking for?

Currently a student enrolled in higher education program

Language skills: Fluent in English, local language (if applicable)

Completion of business-related courses: supply chain, logistics, economics, general business, etc.

Digital literacy including Microsoft Office

Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning systems as a plus

Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment

Demonstrate curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset

Proactively engage in role to learn, grow, and share ideas

Solid communication skills, building and maintaining informal relationships with external/internal stakeholders

Ability to handle multiple requests
