About the Role

Who we are:

For over 25 years, Global Relay has set the standard in enterprise information archiving with industry-leading cloud archiving, surveillance, eDiscovery, and analytics solutions. We securely capture and preserve the communications data of the world’s most highly regulated firms, giving them greater visibility and control over their information and ensuring compliance with stringent regulations.

Though we offer competitive compensation and benefits and all the other perks one would expect from an established company, we are not your typical technology company. Global Relay is a career-building company. A place for big ideas. New challenges. Groundbreaking innovation. It’s a place where you can genuinely make an impact – and be recognized for it.

We believe great businesses thrive on diversity, inclusion, and the contributions of all employees. To that end, we recruit candidates from different backgrounds and foster a work environment that encourages employees to collaborate and learn from each other, completely free of barriers.

Your role:

The Technical Product Management (TPM) co-op will help bridge the gap between business goals and technical execution. You will learn how to triage incoming feature requests, learning how our products work in the process. You will help your fellow product managers organize their requirements to line up with our software development life cycle (SDLC) to improve elaboration time, help coordinate dependencies, and ensure the program management team has dependable delivery outcomes to track. You will also be assisting the Product Director in bringing alignment of product strategy across teams in Vancouver and London, and helping to maintain internal and external facing collateral such as roadmaps, or other audit-ready product documentation.

You will dive deep into our technical architecture, learn how our products work, and transform raw feature requests into structured, actionable business needs. This is a high-impact internship where your data gathering and analysis will directly shape our product roadmap.

Your responsibilities:

  • Product Discovery: Assist with user interviews with internal SMEs and staff  to find out what problems customers face.
  • Requirement Building: Help create product specifications, user stories, and technical details for the engineering team.
  • Data Analysis: Review product data and metrics to see how well new features perform, or how performant systems are operating.
  • Cross-Functional Work: Join daily team meetings and help developers and designers stay aligned on the product vision.
  • Competitive Research: Look at industry trends and competitor tools to help find new features to build.

About you:

  • Technical literacy: understanding of object-oriented concepts, client-server architecture, system design
  • Analytical & structured thinking: the ability to look at data or information, and use it to ask questions towards solving problems. And ability to organize ideas towards clear documentation, process mapping, and detail.
  • Communication: the ability to explain complex technical ideas to non-technical people clearly
  • Tools: ability to learn quickly to use tools like Jira, Confluence, Miro, Product board
  • Past (co-op) experience in any of the following is an asset:
    • Cloud-native application development
    • Software development lifecycles at a small to medium size organization
    • Have used AI tools to research, even develop prototypes
