About The Company
The World Bank is a vital source of financial and technical assistance to developing countries around the world. Our vision is to create a world free of poverty on a livable planet. We are not a bank in the common sense; we are made up of two unique development institutions owned by 189 member countries: the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA). Each institution plays a different but collaborative role in advancing the vision of inclusive and sustainable globalization. The IBRD aims to reduce poverty in middle-income and creditworthy poorer countries, while IDA focuses on the world's poorest countries. Their work is complemented by that of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) and the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). Together, we provide low-interest loans, interest-free credits and grants to developing countries for a wide array of purposes that include investments in education, health, public administration, infrastructure, financial and private sector development, agriculture and environmental and natural resource management.

Description

WBG Pioneers, the World Bank Group’s Internship Program, offers undergraduate and postgraduate students a high impact learning experience at the heart of global development. Participants gain hands on experience in a diverse and dynamic environment, contribute fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, and connect with international professionals working to end poverty on a livable planet.

The LC7 Country Management Unit (CMU) is responsible for Bank operations in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, and is composed of a decentralized office in Buenos Aires, where the Division Director (DD) and the Operations Manager (OM) are based, an Anchor Office at Headquarters; and Country Offices in Asunción and Montevideo, each led by a Resident Representative (RR).

The CMU oversees a wide range of activities aligned with the World Bank’s five key verticals: Infrastructure, Planet, People, Prosperity, and Digital. These verticals reflect the Bank’s strategic approach to supporting sustainable development, including investments in resilient infrastructure, climate and environmental sustainability, human capital, inclusive economic growth, and digital transformation. The CMU manages a diverse portfolio of operations and analytical work across these areas, requiring strong coordination across teams and sectors. In addition, the Buenos Aires office works in close collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group (WBG), which focuses on promoting private investment and development.

The CMU is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to provide macro and operational support to the team in Buenos Aires. The selected intern will be based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and will work closely with economists and operational colleagues, reporting to the Operations Manager (OM).

This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in macro and operational support, while also learning about World Bank projects, processes, and cross-institutional collaboration within the WBG.

• Monitor key macroeconomic and social indicators.

2. Operational Support

• Review the quality of project documentation.

• Assist with the upload and maintenance of documentation in internal World Bank systems.

• Selectively participate in project missions during the preparation and/or implementation stages.

Selection Criteria

• Candidates must be in the final year enrolled in a Master’s degree in Economics, International Relations, or related fields.
