Lake Mead Christian Ministries (LMCM) Minister-  ATTD Student Teacher

Job Type: Part Time ( Up to 12 hours ) 

Department: Visual & Performing Arts (VAPA)- Academy

Reports to: Director of Visual & Performing Arts 

Job Summary: The Student Teacher is an enthusiastic and dedicated high school leadership position designed for students who have demonstrated excellence in dance, leadership, and Christian character. Under the supervision of the VAPA Director and Studio Manager, the Student Teacher assists with dance instruction while developing teaching, leadership, and ministry skills in a professional studio and school environment. The Student Dance Teacher supports quality dance instruction by assisting with lesson implementation, demonstrating proper technique, encouraging students, maintaining a positive learning environment, and helping with performances, rehearsals, and studio operations. This position serves as a positive Christian role model for younger students while representing the mission and values of Lake Mead Christian Ministries.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate dance curriculum and lesson plans that support student growth and align with the studio's educational goals. 
  • Plan and teach youth and beginner-level dance classes in a positive, engaging, and Christ-centered learning environment. 
  • Demonstrate proper dance technique, choreography, terminology, and performance quality during instruction. 
  • Lead student warm-ups, stretching, conditioning, and technical exercises that promote safe dance practices. 
  • Encourage, motivate, and provide constructive feedback to help students develop confidence, discipline, and technical skills. 
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment by maintaining appropriate classroom management and positive student behavior. 
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual learning needs. 
  • Prepare the dance studio before classes and ensure the facility is clean, organized, and ready for instruction after classes. 
  • Communicate professionally with students, parents, and staff regarding class expectations, performances, and student progress as appropriate. 
  • Participate in rehearsals, recitals, performances, outreach events, and other studio activities as assigned. 
  • Complete assigned administrative and organizational responsibilities, including attendance, class records, music preparation, and studio organization. 
  • Collaborate with the VAPA Director and fellow instructors to maintain excellence in dance instruction and program development. 
  • Demonstrate professionalism by being punctual, prepared, and receptive to coaching and ongoing professional growth. 

Required Skills

  • Background in dance (minimum 2 years preferred in any style) 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Responsible, punctual, and reliable 
  • Enjoys working with children and young dancers 
  • Positive attitude and a team-oriented mindset 
  • Willingness to learn and take direction 
  • Demonstrates technical proficiency and readiness to teach younger dancers. 
  • Knowledge of dance terminology and classes is beneficial 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information 
  • Professional behavior, not distracted by peers while working 


Qualifications: 

  • LMCA 10th-12th grade student with a consistent GPA of 3.0 or higher 
  • One recommendation from LMCA leader (Principal, Director, or Dean) 
  • Two recommendations from current teachers 
  • Attends church & professes to be a Christ-follower 
  • Ability to commit to a consistent weekly teaching schedule throughout the school year

Compensation*:  12.00 per hour
