Job Summary: As a Newsroom Intern, you will get an inside look at how a local television newsroom operates, working alongside our producers, reporters, photographers, and our digital team in the Griffin Media Tulsa newsroom. You will shadow daily newsroom operations and gain exposure to the full news-gathering process, from story idea to air. This internship is designed for students pursuing a degree in broadcast journalism, communications, or a related field who want real-world exposure to the pace and teamwork of a working newsroom. Job Responsibilities: Learn the fundamentals of producing alongside our team, including writing, researching and fact-checking, logging video, and timing stories and newscasts. Gain hands-on exposure to reporting, including shadowing field crews, interviewing sources, logging video, writing stories, and appearing on camera. Sit in with our digital team to pick up the basics of writing and posting stories to newson6.com, as well as using social media to share and gather news. Round out your experience by observing other members of our diverse newsroom across departments and shifts. Work on building a sample of work over the course of the internship. Perform other internship-related duties as assigned. Job Schedule: This is an unpaid internship for college credit. Interns will work primarily dayside hours, with the opportunity to also work the morning shift to see a different side of newsroom operations. We are flexible on schedule, but you must meet the hours required for your college credit. This internship is available for the Fall semester. Skills and Requirements: Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Journalism, Communications, Mass Communications, or a related field. GPA of 2.75 or above. Must have completed 60 credit hours toward degree. Copy of official transcript must be uploaded with application. A genuine interest in broadcast journalism and a desire to learn how a newsroom operates day to day. Intern must be self-motivated and work well with others. Professional dress is expected at all times.
