About the Role

The Telesat Lightspeed Network Engineering team is responsible for the end-to-end network design of Telesat’s Lightspeed Low Earth Orbit network. This Co-Op opportunity will leverage software automation and latest AI-based capabilities to help improve and streamline the network engineering team’s design, validation and documentation deliverables in preparation for Lightspeed launch.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Build high-quality software components to enable automation of network configuration and validation tasks.
  • Apply latest AI tools and methodologies to help accelerate and improve network validation and documentation deliverables
  • Participate in Network Engineering’s day to day design, integration and validation activities.
  • Deliver assigned task within scheduled timeframes and with accountability for quality.


Qualifications:
  • Experience in software development in Linux based environments
  • Proficient in Python programming language for automation and testing tasks
  • Experience with Git as a software version control tool and GitHub as a software repository
  • Experience with latest AI tools for software development, test and documentation activities such as Co-Pilot, Qodo, Rovo, etc.
  • Experience with Ansible IT automation environments
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrate ability to function in a collaborative work environment.


Nice to Haves:
  • General understanding of networking concepts such as IP addressing, ethernet switching and IP routing.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in compute virtualization environments such as VMware ESXi or VirtualBox, Proxmox VE
  • Experience with enterprise productivity and collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA.
  • Experience with network test tools like Ixia IxNetwork and Spirent TestCenter and related programming APIs
